Customer Reviews
Solid Built Quality
I got a [...] which is a sweet deal. Its got altec lansing speakers that provide rich sound, a nice addition is the dedicated controls for DVD and CD right on the top of the keyboard, the screen is a nice big 15.4 inches, with nice contrast and even back lighting. Typing is easy because there's adequate space for my palms and the thickness and weight are acceptable. But I wouldn't want to travel a lot with it. Another good quality is the coating HP used around it which resist scartching and staining. I use it everyday and haven't had an issue. The HP diagnostic software is handy. Never had any issue with this laptop as far as reliability. Cold Eyes
HP Does Not Stand By Their Products - DO NOT BUY!
One star is too generous.
I have a black blotch with white lines that appeared in the bottom right corner of my screen after having the laptop for two months. It looks like to screen is cracked inside. Nothing was done on my part to damage the screen. I opened the laptop and it was there. I called HP and they said it was covered and they would replace it. A few weeks later I get a call asking how I would like to pay the $745 bill! We tried to elevate the issue and got ZERO response. The laptop was evenutally returned uprepaired. I tried contacting the CEO and he is not interested in responding either.
I read a review on another site that someone had the exact same issue and had the same response from HP.
If you want to purchase a product that the manufacturer will stand by - HP is not want you want.
Research is Key.
Short story. I needed a computer as I was working in SE Asia all of last year. I bought this laptop (which I'm still using) due to a crunch-time situation and needed computer/internet access. I bought this in January 2007 for MSRP of $1100 USD. Within the last year, and you can read several other reviews, the CD player has 'a mind of it's own'... If this is a software or OS issue, HP needs to GET WITH THE PROGRAM and NOTIFY IT'S CUSTOMERS. I have never bought a brand new laptop before (mind you) but I WILL DEFINITELY TEST OUT OTHER NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS before purchasing another HP laptop.
