Customer Reviews
Well worth it, but..
This is a fantastic resource, but looks at the wine world from a somewhat different perspective that most Americans are used to. Scandinavian and English vintage ratings - you've got it. One region in the US has one rating for vintages from
NY to Virginia to Michigan.
Hey, but for the price? It's worth it, particularly for the French, Italian, and Spanish ratings and commentaries. And it's great fun to read about, I don't know, Scandinavian and English wines. And from lonely outposts in France. Then there's Hungary, and Austria, Greece, non-port Portugal. You get the idea.
I'll get the 2010 when it comes out.
Best Wine Update Around
The Wine Report is an excellent professional reference. Every Fall I pre-order the next edition to ensure I keep up-to-date with the wine world. The Wine Report is not something I would recommend for most consumers, however, it is a MUST HAVE for all sommeliers or avid enthusiasts.
If you don't love this book, you must not be in the industry or like wine for that matter
An absolute must have for anyone in pursuit of up to date information regarding harvests, legislative changes, breakthroughs in viniculture and viticulture, new business endeavors or consolidations, auction prices, wine and health, and on, and on. I've purchased this text religiously since its first publication, thoroughly enjoying cracking the cover and reading about recent industry news. Granted, I may not agree with every contributing writer 100%, but if you consider the return on investment of accessible and formatted information, all for the price of around $15, there is NO better annual text in publication today.
