Everybody likes a good cuddle!

But not all cuddles are the same. Some cuddles are warm. Some are playful. And some can even be very, very prickly! Sweet, simple text and bright, bold, beautiful art combine in this enchanting picture book, perfect for family sharing.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 1–Short and snappy text paired with bold, childlike, cartoon illustrations make this picture book feel like one big hug. Each spread comically depicts how different creatures cuddle. "Monkeys cuddle gently…and turtles cuddle slowly." "Cats cuddle playfully…but porcupines have to cuddle verycarefully!" Of course, in the end, "…the best cuddle of all…is Mommy's cuddle." Adorable animals drawn in thick black lines and warm colors are presented on clean white backgrounds. The naïve pictures and playful narrative provide just the right amount of humor without becoming overly sweet. A fun read-aloud for sharing with groups or for snuggling one-on-one.–Julie Roach, Malden Public Library, MA

From Booklist
PreS. A smiling pig rubbing noses with her child on the jacket captures the warm feelings in this book. Yet, as the text makes clear, not all cuddles are the same. Monkeys cuddle gently, while turtles do it slowly. For kangaroos cuddling is easy, but for crabs it's hard. Naturally, as the young boy who leads off the narrative knows, the best cuddle comes from Mom. Van Genechten effectively uses simplicity in words, design, and art. Each animal gets an uncluttered two-page spread with large figures, thickly colored and outlined in black, in the forefront of the pages. Plenty of white space gives the pages an open feeling, but there are also bits of collage that provide hints of habitat. This will be excellent for toddler story hours, but perhaps the best use will be one on one, where after the reading, cuddling can ensue. Ilene Cooper

Great bedtime reading...5
Cutest book ever! I can not wait to read this book to our son once he's born. I know my husband will enjoy reading it too. It's a very short read, with cute characters in there. It'll make your child want to cuddle with you, just because!
