Product Description

Police Chief Cade disappears after hitting and killing a man with his car. Without a trace, without a note, without taking clothes or his car or money, he is gone. When a witness says she saw Cade getting into a blue Buick with a woman before his disappearance, the newspapers report that Cade left town to be with her. Blair knows it doesn’t make sense for Cade to leave without word for any reason. The dead man is identified, and it soon becomes clear that the woman Cade was seen with was the wife of the dead man. Newspapers begin to ask hard questions. Was the Cape Refuge Chief of Police having an affair with this woman? Did he deliberately kill her husband, then make it look like an accident? When the police department receives a handwritten note from Cade that he has run off to get married to a woman he’s kept secret, everyone breathes a sigh of relief. But Blair notices his unusual signature: Matt Cade. Cade never goes by his first name, and he especially never calls himself "Matt." She thinks it’s a signal from him that the contents of the note are false. Meanwhile, around the south, there are news reports about babies being kidnapped from area hospitals. When a ransom call comes to Hanover House from the baby’s kidnapper, they are all shocked to see that the phone it is traced to is Cade’s cell phone. Is he involved in the babies’ disappearance? Is that why he’s disappeared?

From the Back Cover
Sequel to the #1 best-selling Cape Refuge

First a dead stranger. Now a missing Police Chief. Did Chief Cade run off to elope . . . or has he met with foul play?

The body in the morgue had no ID. No one knew who he was or where he came from when he walked out in front of Cade’s car. And when Cade learns he had a gunshot wound before he was struck, finding his identity becomes even more urgent.

Then Cade vanishes. Authorities discover the victim’s name, and the woman Cade was last seen with turns out to have been the dead man’s wife.

Speculation abounds about Cade’s relationship to the woman and his part in the victim’s death. His disappearance makes him look even more suspicious.

But Blair Owens doesn’t believe the rumors. Something has happened to Cade, and she’s determined to find him. Saving Cade’s life will take faith in a God whom Blair has always doubted—but he may be her only hope.

Great second book of her Cape Refuge series5
SOUTHERN STORM is the second book of Terri Blackstock's "Cape Refuge" series. Blackstock is a renowned Christian writer who offers her books free to any readers not happy with her talent. During a storm on Cape Refuge, Cade, the police chief, runs over a strange man. The autopsy reveals that the man had been shot before he was run over. Within hours Cade disappears and Blair, good friend and town librarian, seems to be the only person in town worried. Blackstock entices readers with her action-packed plots, her warm natural characters and her realistic dialogue. As Blair uses her stubborn persistence to locate Cade, she is slowly drawn toward the God she wasn't always sure existed. Terri Blackstock is a gifted writer and SOUTHERN STORM is a sure best-seller.

Wow, just when I thought Terri wrote her best!5
I read this book in two nights. It would have been one but I had to go to work the next day. Terri did some real changes to her plot writing on this one, and added more twits then the windiest road. The second half was so intense your heart skips a beat and your palms get sweaty. I suggest wearing gloves on the second half. j/k.

I highly recommend this book! But only if you read Cape Refuge, you will be lost otherwise.

The worst part of this is that I have to wait a couple of months for the next in the series.

A Great Blackstock Classic5
I read this book and found myself having a hard time putting it down. Terri Blackstock clearly has a knack for the whodunit, but what separates her from others is that she so carefully weaves in the faith element. In Southern Storm, as in her other works, the transformation in the lives of Karen, Sadie, and Blair are as important if not greater than finding the murderer and rescuing Cade.

I strongly recommend her books because they satisfy the reader's urge for great literature and yet he leaves feeling spiritually refreshed--as if it is not just a wasted excercise. What also is refreshing and encouraging is the way Terri deals with grown-up issues and tough life situations with grace rather than judgmentalism. In Southern Storm, you get the idea that these are real people dealing with real issues and real fears. Even the strongest Christians battle doubt and discouragment and even question the will of God. The reader feels kinship with the heroes and heroines who identify with everyday life struggles.

If you're hooked on reading, but would rather part with trashy romance novels, look no further than Terri Blackstock. It will be an experience you'll not soon forget.
