A movie about a middle schooler losing his lucky medallion and morphing into a leprechaun may be no match for Britney and the boys in the tween turn-on arena, but Luck of the Irish is not without its charms. Ryan Merriman plays Kyle Johnson, basketball whiz and all-around It boy, who's flummoxed by school Heritage Day--as far as he knows, he's from Cleveland. A little rooting around reveals not just Irish but leprechaun roots, and then things really get freaky--Kyle's ears go Vulcan and the slam-dunker's suddenly a shrinky-dink. Juicing up the high jinks here are a must-win basketball game and the devotion of a do-gooder gal pal. Luck, produced by the Disney Channel, not only has bright young actors on its side, it's also studded with moments of goofball funniness. Present it as the pot of gold at the end of a dreary school day, then dust it off again for St. Patty's. --Tammy La Gorce

Luck of the 'Little People'5
This is a great movie for those who are proud of their Irish Heritage!

I've always enjoy a good 'Wee Folk' movie...and I rank this with my other fav of Irish Disney, "Darby O'Gill and the Little People". Sean Connery doesn't sing in this one..or even appear in it but this, "Luck of the Irish", is a great flick; 'bout a teen-age learning about his Irish heritage...

Give it a chance..heh why not suprise someone with one of the two for ST. PATRICK'S DAY (March 17th for all those non-believers)

Fun... charming... educational5
I love this Disney movie, and so do my young daughters. We laughed and laughed as Kyle's luck turned from good to bad... and he begins turning into a leprechaun - all because his "lucky charm" is stolen.

The movie brings up an important subject of family heritage... something that we all have. Kyle is not interested in anything of his own until he believes his parents are hiding it from him... with that and his sudden bad luck and the physical changes his mother and him take on... Kyle is the answer to preserving that history, and saving his good fortune of being an American.

At the end of the movie, you will want to stand up and sing along with the final song. This is a warm, feel-good, family movie... good for kids of all ages, and a great way to get your children interested in their own family heritage.

One of the best Disney Channel Original Movies5
Okay, first of all, I have to say that most of the Disney Channel Original Movies tend to get, well, stupid. Bad plots, cheesy dialogue, complete lunacy all around. This movie, however, is totally NOT all of the above. The acting is great, the make-up is cool (the pointy ears are so cute! And Ryan's red hair! He should keep it like that, it looks awesome!) and the dialogue is sharp and witty, letting you think about the sight gags instead of saying it plain out. Then end of the basketball game against Seamus is a bit over-done, but other than that, nothing is corny. Ryan Merriman seems to have great chemistry with all the other actors, and the way he reacts when he finds out his mom's a lephrecon is hilarious. (::giggles insanely at the look on his face::)
All in all, I have to say this is one of the few Disney Channel movies I could watch again and again.
