***** 1978. I saw this movie some 30 years ago at the 1979 Cannes Film festival and I was sure then than it will earn the Golden Palm but, unfortunately, it was the year of APOCALYPSE NOW and THE TIN DRUM and Terrence Malick won "only" the Best Director award. Since then, I watched it every four or five years or so and I must say that DAYS OF HEAVEN stands very well the test of time. Masterpiece.

***** 2006. This movie has got everything that you won't find in the Harry Potter films or in Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm : Emotion, Intelligence, Beauty and, most of all, Sincerity. Masterpiece.

**** 1971. Great western featuring a Christian Burt Lancaster, ex-scout and part-time Mexican lawman, who tries to raise $100 for the Apache widow of a man killed by mistake. Note the performance of Susan Clark, an Irish redhead lost in a men's world.

**** 2005. Produced by the main actor of the film, Christian Bale, and written and directed by David Ayer who already wrote the screenplay of TRAINING DAY and DARK BLUE. Spectacular road movie in Los Angeles featuring two friends: a psychopath who wants to be hired by the F.B.I. and the weak-willed boy-friend of the lawyer Eva Longoria. Haunting.

*** 1965. Academy award for Lee Marvin for playing the roles of Kid Shelleen and Tim Strawn. Look for Nat King Cole at the banjo ! A humorous western which has really its moments. To rediscover.

*** 1985. Silver Berlin Bear for Charlotte Valandrey in 1986. A love story in the Paris of 1952 between a photographer and a 15 years old girl who's an active member of the French communist party. Good surprise.

*** 2004. Not bad with some very funny scenes. if you like satire, it's a film for you. Look for cameos : Jack Black, Tim Robbins, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn.

*** 2006. Tribute to Lang, Hitchcock, Welles and other masters of the Film Noir by Steven Soderbergh. Cate Blanchett is the real star of the film. Enjoyable.
