First novel from the wonderful SKP. A gripping book about the War of the Roses and the end of the Plantagenets, you’ll be thinking about it for weeks afterward and scorning the Tudor revisionist history of Richard III. He was not a hunchback, had a reputation as a battle commander second only to his brother, the awesome Edward IV, and later as peacekeeper of the notoriously hostile North. Read it!

This book kept coming up as a recommendation but I put off reading it because of the time travel aspect. When I finally read it, I fell in LOVE with it. Diana Gabaldon has created two refreshingly original, riveting and true-to-life characters in Jamie and Claire. This is one of my very favorite books, and all of the books in the series are great. I highly recommend them.

This was my intro to Gregory and the only one of her books on my list. This one stands out head and shoulders above her others. Mary Boleyn is well-drawn, very likeable and you really root for her to come out ahead of her horrible family and her bitch of a sister. Nothing new or surprising here, but a well-written, enjoyable read. The movie really wanders from the book and does not do it justice.

A Civil War novel set in Missouri, a border state with divided loyalties. 18-year old Adair is arrested on suspicion of spying and sent to the women's prison in St. Louis. There she gains the admiration and eventual love of a Union officer. This is a gritty novel about a woman's grueling quest for freedom, home and a life beyond.
