The Three Burials of Melquiades EstradaThe Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $2.00
It may take someone who's lived in Texas and understands "Bubba" to think this film is funny, but it is--in a very bittersweet way. It's also a testament to true friendship.
Waking Ned DevineWaking Ned Devine
Buy new: $5.99 / Used from: $3.94
When I saw "Waking Ned Devine" in the theatres, I had to go back again with my husband. I still laughed just as hard the second time--particularly since the accent was hard to pick up at first--and I have laughed every time we've viewed the disk since.
The Full Monty - Fully Exposed EditionThe Full Monty - Fully Exposed Edition
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $9.59
Imagine a bunch of working class blokes suddenly out of work and realizing their women don't see them as quite as manly as they used to be. They see an ad for male dancers and figure they can do that too--only they're not really quite ready for the bigtime.
O Brother, Where Art Thou?O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $2.50
Really didn't know what to expect when I saw this film the first time. I took my husband back, then a friend. Then, of course, I own the DVD and the soundtrack. The music's great, the acting's wonderful, and I figure out something new to laugh at every time I see this film.
Pride and Prejudice (BBC, 1980)Pride and Prejudice (BBC, 1980)
Buy new: $8.49 / Used from: $3.12
This is the first version of the film I bought. I still watch and enjoy it.
Pride & PrejudicePride & Prejudice
Buy new: $9.49 / Used from: $5.48
Okay, so I own more than one version of this film. They're both good and funny for different reasons.
The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a MountainThe Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $4.58
Aside from being an impossible title to put on a film marquee, this sleeper of a film is quietly funny. It's a great tale about community pride--and deception.
Fierce CreaturesFierce Creatures
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $3.67
What happens when a nice English zoo is about to be closed for lack of interest? You get a crazy corporate crew who tells you to turn the zoo animals into 'fierce creatures.'
Over the Hedge (Widescreen Edition)Over the Hedge (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $3.93
This is a kids' film that adults will sometimes laugh harder at than the kids.
Kinky BootsKinky Boots
Buy new: $15.49 / Used from: $7.98
What do you do when your classic mens shoes are no longer in demand? You find a new market and that market is Kinky Boots! So, what happens to a straight guy and his pedestrian factory workers when they start making footwear for drag queens? It's delightful!
The Madness of King GeorgeThe Madness of King George
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $6.33
It's believed King George had a case of porphyria sometime after Britain lost the Colonies. The story of his madness depicted here is both compelling and hilarious. Beautifully filmed and acted as well.
