The charming story about a young Italian boy who becomes a projectionist in a small religious town and how his life is subsequently shaped by the theater. A must see for anyone who has ever been a projectionist or worked with film.

This is such a seductive and sexy film, with James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal, the chemistry they bring to their sadist/masochist relationship is admirable and even envious.

Such an intensely moving black & white beauty. Slow for some, philosophical for others, and pure art for the rest. City of Angels was based on this deep german film which pays homage to post-war Berlin. Also features a couple of Nick Cave performances which classifies it as pure gold!

Probably the most under-marketed and underrated film on the list, but definitely a beauty. With an afterlife for those who commit suicide, a myriad of unique characters and locations, and Tom Waits, you can't go wrong.
