Product Description

Join Master Nomi as he reveals the Ten Paradoxesâ„¢ to three travelers looking for their Zen. They mystically encounter the Hut of the Blind Donkey in Japan. This small hilltop monastery where Master Nomi lives serves as the backdrop for an unforgettable night filled with enlightening experiences and ancient Zen secrets. Through the Ten Paradoxes, Master Nomi reveals that our minds are trained from birth to be overly analytical. We over-think and over-analyze; we feel we must identify and name everything in order to understand how each thing fits into our world. We never objectively perceive reality as it is. We block our intuitions, inspirations, creativity, psi functions (higher perception), and spiritual awareness. As the Master says, we simply lose our Zen and inevitably suffer the consequences.

We no longer move through life with the fluency and vibrancy of youth. We lose the play. We lose the flow. We begin to look for a way to once again find our inner contentment and ponder the question, Where's my Zen? Experiencing your Zen breaks the illusion and limitations of the overly analytical mind, so through No Mind you can actualize the mind's full, limitless potential.

Master Nomi maintains that awareness, liberated from the constraints of your conditioned self, your ego or I-illusion, is then free to flow into all areas of your life sports, health, business, relationships, spirituality, and academics leading to reduced stress, peak performance, and deep inner contentment. We realize through his wisdom that there can be no literal answer to Master Nomi's koan, Where's my Zen? We can only experience it.

We are born with enlightenment, then we lose it. Now, following the path of No Mind, we can experience it again. So join Master Nomi as he opens the gateless gate.

About the Author
Over the last 30 years, Paul Harrison AIA, a Los Angeles architect, has researched, practiced, and experienced many of the mystical teachings of the ancient Zen masters. These secrets of No Mind hold knowledge of enlightenment, peak performance, mysticism, and death. Now Harrison has given voice to an alter ego, Master Nomi, to finally share the teachings revealed by the enigmatic Ancient Stone and the old scrolls which contain the Ten Paradoxes.

Harrison modeled Master Nomi after the 14th century Zen master Ikkyu (ee-cue), one of the notable Zen rebels and radicals who became known as the Crazy Clouds. Ikkyu was an unrelenting advocate of enlightenment through sexuality the Red Thread of Zen. Despite his reputation for mischief, he was known to be extremely smart, and is still revered in modern-day Japan as a folk hero.

Master Nomi translates the Ancient Stone into a metaphoric compass of enlightenment and peak performance a step-by-step transformational journey to Total Mental Fitness® through two important books: the 794-page treatise The Ten Paradoxes and the popular Where's My Zen? parable. The outcome experiencing enlightenment, living in the Now, and achieving peak performance is more accessible than ever before.

Harrison lives with his daughters, Chelsea and Allix, and their little Boxer, Kokoa, in their Zen-inspired urban retreat.

Customer Reviews

Eye-opening!5
This little book packs a lot of insights in a very quick read. I got both books in the series, the BIG book, "The Ten Paradoxes" and what I call the LITTLE book, "Where's My Zen?" If you are looking for a great intro to some of the most comprehensive ideas I have seen in a long time about spirituality and how to apply in directly into your life, like in sports, relationships, or business, then get the little book. But if it makes you feel like you are left hanging, which so many of these type of books can--"The Power of Now" left me hanging--then move into, "The Ten Paradoxes". I have never seen a more complete guide to the complicated subject of enlightenment and peak performance. It's truly amazing! But be willing to spend the time necessary to get through its almost 800 pages and if you do...you leave it with a new perspective of our reality as humans. I never understood enlightenment in terms of what Master Nomi calls No Mind--it's the universal aspect of ourselves that can elevate us out of our present condition. Get us out of the 'mind box' and expand our awareness past the day to day rituals we that binds us. Its made a big difference in my life and how I see things. Eye-opening!

Where's My Zen5
The fact that this book has proven scientific methods behind its more spiritual thinking is what really motivated me to buy it. And I was right. I already see a difference in my performance at work and all my co-workers are noticing it as well. The goal of reaching "Peak Performance" as outlined in the book is truly attainable. I feel a renewed strength in all aspects of my life. I highly recommend this book. It is easy to read but very impactful.

Zen Business5
I am an executive at a regional bank, and could in some ways identify with one of the characters who was an American businessman. I have been able to apply a portion of the Ten Paradoxes to my everyday life and business practices through the teaching of Master Nomi's Zen Business. Zen Business has awakened me to a new perspective on how to perform even better and with less stress and more creativity. The ability to train the awareness to free itself from the ego is a worthwhile endeavor. I enjoyed the quick read and gained some fresh new insights.
