We got this as part of our childbirth class and it was very helpful. Apparently, most babies who are "colicky" are just overly sensitive to external stimuli now that they are suddenly out of the womb. This DVD was great. You could buy the book, but it really helps to actually see his techniques in action.

Admittedly, I'm a little biased because I know the author, but I did really like a reference that is organized by body part rather than by age or some other method. The reference itself is very high level, but it provides websites to check for further information.

The best information here was just that until the baby is 4 months old, don't expect him to be able to fall asleep on his own. But it also helps you know when "cry it out" is an acceptable solution.

We have been signing since ~4 months (you don't really need to start any earlier than that because babies' vision isn't that good til then.) Our baby (at 13 months) doesn't really talk, but can communicate well with a combination of signs and pointing, which really reduces frustration.
