Unfortunately I felt like this book was more romance than history. I mostly enjoyed the romance, and at times the book really was a page turner. But in the end the novel felt a little flat. The characters were quite flat, and there was little of the historical element that I had been expecting. The author writes well, so I hope if there is another novel it has more of a historical slant.

This was a decent book for an Austen lover. The author does a good job of incorporating Austen's novels into the lives of these women.

I had read other Phillipa Gregory books before, but this is really the best one there is. If you are at all interested in the Tudor period you should read this book for it's lush portrayal of the period, even though it lacks some historical accuracy.

Life Class was a quiet book, but a moving read. I would definitely recommend this to people interested in the First World War.
