Get in Gear
Meet the three must-haves for the ultimate synthesis of sport and music: a pair of Nike+ shoes, an iPod nano, and the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. Find out what happens when the leading name in sports and the leading name in digital music team up to take on your workout.
First, get a pair of Nike+ shoes. Only Nike+ shoes feature a built-in pocket under the insole specially engineered for the Nike + iPod sensor. For seamless, stylish integration, add Nike+ apparel that holds your iPod nano and receiver.
Next, get an iPod nano. Skip-free playback, a brilliant display, and up to 1,000 songs in an impossibly small iPod keep you light on your feet. And only iPod nano syncs your complete workout data with both iTunes and nikeplus.com.
Lastly, you'll need the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. The Sport Kit allows your Nike+ shoe to talk to your iPod nano. The sensor uses a sensitive accelerometer to measure your activity, then wirelessly transfers this data to the receiver that's plugged into the dock connector on your iPod nano.
Rock 'n' Run
See the minutes tick by. Watch the miles unfold. Hear real-time feedback. All to your favorite music--including the one song that always gets you through the home stretch. As your run or walk, the sensor sends information to your iPod nano, tracking your time, distance, pace, and calories burned. If you choose, real-time, spoken feedback can even alert you to milestones throughout your workout.
Stay in Sync
Sync up after you cool down. Just as seamlessly as it syncs your music, photos, and calendars, iPod nano also syncs your run. Simply connect iPod nano to your Mac or PC, and your workout data syncs to both iTunes and nikeplus.com, where you can see your runs, set goals, and challenge friends. The Internet is an open road. Staying in sync is as easy as 1-2-3:
- Connect: Any mere pedometer can show you stats while you run. But thanks to the Nike + iPod sensor and receiver, iPod nano also transfers your workout data to the Internet as soon as you sync. Connect your iPod, and iTunes takes over, automatically syncing all your run data and sending it to nikeplus.com.
- Compare: Remember each run. Analyze your performance. Break your last record. Stay in tune with your goals. Nikeplus.com keeps stats on every step. Check your speed, distance, and calories burned--by run, by week, or by month--all from a graphical interface as intuitive as it is stunning.
- Compete: Nikeplus.com keeps you connected with runners from every corner of the web. And that's where the real race begins. Use nikeplus.com to challenge anyone, anywhere to a virtual race. Run on your own time, on your home turf, then log on to nikeplus.com to retrieve your results.

Customer Reviews
First Sensor, Awesome. Second, Not so much!
I am a big fan of this product. Very affordable. The battery issue does suck. My first sensor was awesome. I cal'd it on a track and event cal'd the walking part. It was almost dead on. On a 6.2 mile run, it would say I ran 6.4, over and over. Couldn't ask for better accuracy. I really enjoy the pace feature. BUT....
My battery in the sensor died and I purchased another one to replace it. I cal'd it on a track and everything just as the first. It could not be more wrong. When I speed up to a 6:00 min pace or so it says im running slower like 8:40. When I slow down and do a 8:00 min pace it says im doing a 6:00 min pace. Wierd. I am sad and this problem has me questioning the product. I really want it to work right.
If you are a new runner and have an iPod, highly recommend this item. Seeing your distance is a real motivator. For $30 this product is worth giving it a try!!!
Oh and yes I do have Nike shoes, not the pouch so thats not the problem. Maybe I should stop running backwards, just kidding.
Worked ok for 3 months until the internal battery died..
The unit that fits in/on your shoe has a soldered in CR2032 battery.. non-replaceable. Mine worked fine for the first 3 months or so, then started giving low-battery warnings.. it worked for ~ 2 more weeks intermittantly then died. I cut it apart and tried to replace the battery myself but soldering the new battery proved too difficult and getting everything back together and keeping it water-tight was nearly impossible.
I had a friend by this for me through the Nike website so I didnt have a receipt. I tried to get it replaced under warranty through apple.. didnt work w/o the receipt. Supposedly the battery should be good for up to two years. One detail you should know is that the unit is always on unless you press and hold the button for 2 seconds or more. Not so convienient if it's in the sole of your shoe or in a pouch on your laces.
I found it wasnt very consistant on distance. I walk to same distance at approx the same pace and would get different readings on any given day.
Since I know the distance anyway and walk to same route, it's easier to judge my progress by time than with this unit. I wont be buying another.
Maybe I got a bum one.. who knows. Since the unit is always on, if it's been on a store shelf on manufactured months before you purchase it, your battery life may vary. Also, you wouldn want to keep it in shoes you use everyday since it activates when motion is detected from what I understand. Nice concept but didnt last as long as I thought it should for ~$30.
I never got it
I never receive this item, I mailed them but I did not get any answer.
The worst part is that my credit card was charged.
