Product Description

Readers of all ages have a variety of reasons why they love the daily comic strip Mutts. But for some readers, Sunday is the most special day of the week because it is the day that cartoonist Patrick McDonnell unleashes his full-color Sunday strips.

Those Sunday-loving readers are in for a real treat with the release of Sunday Evenings. This new Mutts treasury is the fourth in the "Sunday" series and stars Earl the dog and Mooch the cat, who despite their obvious differences prefer to tackle life as a mostly harmonious partnership.

Under the skilled pen of cartoonist Patrick McDonnell, Mutts is about far more than the simple, carefree world of pets. Underneath the banter of its endearing characters, the reader often faces the all-too-real concerns of animals and life on the planet Earth. It's what makes this book such a rich and enjoyable experience, one that readers will savor each time they page through the collection.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author
Patrick McDonnell, whose Mooch character often draws comparisons to Krazy Kat, actually coauthored Krazy Kat: The Art of George Herriman, considered the definitive book on this classic strip. Patrick also has curated a show on comic strip dogs for the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, Calif. He was awarded the Ark Trust's Genesis Award in 1997 and again in 1999 for "outstanding contribution to animal protection by a cartoonist." In 2004, he was honored with the first-ever Genesis Award for Ongoing Commitment. He is a member of the board of directors of the Humane Society of the United States because of his work for animal advocacy.

The Greatest Cartoonist of this Century, and Much of the Last One, Too. 5
This is the work of the new master of cartooning... it's actually ART, fine art...the "Mutts" Sunday strips in particular. Funny, too, of course. George Herriman should, and would, be flattered.Buy this and EVERY other book by Patrick M-- you won't be disappointed! David Swartz

Patrick McDonnell is a Saint5
I've had the pleasure to meet the author twice. This man is as serious about animal rights as he is about crafting a gentle and amusing cast of cartoon characters. If the Nobel committee were looking for such a gentle spirit, Mr. McDonnell fits the description. Mutts Sundays is a good starter book for those interested in his work. While his cartoons are all pleasing, the color comics are works of art. Mr. McDonnell often bases his opening panels on pop culture and familiar pieces of fine art. Each Sunday I find something new to love!
