Editorial Reviews

Album Description
Alice Russell's second solo album has been highly anticipated. Having slowly but surely build up her reputation as one of the UK's finest soul singers, through her recordings with a number of artists and live appearances, she is now concentrating on her solo career. My Favourite Letters has been produced and co-written by TM Jukes who has added his magic musical touch to Alice's gifted vocals. The album could be described as a kaleidoscope of soul music history with influences from Gospel, Hip-hop, Jazz, Northern Soul, Broken Beat, Electronica and Funk. 12 tracks. Tru Thoughts. 2005.

Really really good CD5
This is a really really good CD. You will LOVE it. Really really good lyrics, songwriting, voice, vocal arrangements, musical arrangements. Inspired, intense, grabs you from the first listen. Every song is different. Alice Russell is a force and she keeps getting better. This is very original work, great fun to listen to. It makes me feel a big "EEEYYYOWWWW! This is SO cool!" Songs 3, 4 and 7 are my initial standout favorites, but the others are growing and may take over. What a wonder Alice's voice is, and with her fabulous writing...so fresh, gritty, real. YUM!

Awesome. The British are coming!!! The British are coming!!!5
I love this album. I hope one day that this woman will make her way over to the U.S. Im trying to wonder why Simon Cowell is not trying to Endorse this woman. Heck she's from his country. but I love. If she ever came to the US she would be dangerous.

Please refer to my other review for additional comments about her other album.

I am always looking for fresh female vocalists with a strong sound and interesting tone and it's hard to find music of this sound that doesn't lapse into the weepy love cliche sad-bag but this CD provides hope and good times! Alice Russell is fantastic!(I've been dancing in my room secretly kind-of-music). Lyrical ideas are pretty cool- admittedly sometimes I can't understand what exactly she's saying but the drive of the tunes allows you to happilly make up what you can't make out.
I definitely recommend at least checking out the samples.
Love it.
