Superb Value5
This LCD is a winner. Cannot beat the price/performance ratio. I bought it at popular warehouse store for $1699. This unit has 3 HDMI inputs - rare for that price point. The component video inputs do full HD - 1080p. If you do research you'll find that MANY LCD's do NOT carry 1080p over component. This is particularly important for Xbox 360 owners since there's no HDMI out on the non-elite models so 1080p through component is critical.

I think this is a hidden jewel given the quality panel, excellent feature set, and price. Keep in mind I'm a stickler for good color - running a fully calibrated and profiled 24" LCD on my PC with custom profiles for printing photos. I simply can't find anything to complain about with this unit. It's as good as any model I've personally seen in this size range costing hundreds more. Why waste money on a higher priced LCD with TV's now being "disposable" (who repairs TV's anymore)? In 5 years there will be affordable LED backlit units and who knows what else. Jump on the value and enjoy.

PS - sadly, the overall rating for this LCD is hurt by an ignorant reviewer who is referencing a DIFFERENT MODEL.

UPDATE: I returned this set and bought a Samsung LNT-4671F. This is no reflection on the quality of the Philips - my original comments stand. I only switched because I saw deeper blacks in the Samsung and an overall superior picture (my wife didn't notice a difference for those of you who are not detail geeks like me). This swap comes at a cost - the Samsung was 40% more expensive when I bought it (there's no free lunch). I still recommend the Philips as the best value in the 46-47" size range.

This one DOES do 1080P5
One of the reviews for this item will make you pause before you buy it. The problem is, 2 of the reviews for this item on Amazon.com are for DIFFERENT MODELS. I own this one. This one is beautiful. It has THREE (not two) HDMI inputs and does accept full 1080P, even 1080P/24 (from a BlueRay player). This picture is beautiful. Great set.

Great Picture - best in the store5

I bought a ->
Philips 47PFL7422D 47" 1080p LCD HDTV

And I will say the set is better than I expected. I was in a Major Store with about 40 TV Sets on one wall. This TV Jumped right out at us and we walked right up to it. Stepped back for 5 minutes and then looked at all the other Sets in the 1500.00 price range 1080P and nothing was close.

I don't know what the guy is talking about when he says the set is not black enough. That Perfect Pixel HD Engine is doing something inside this unit.

I have Comcast with that great Explorer Cable Box, I used the HDMI plugs and I also have the Phillips DVD Player , the one that allows all type of media, DIVX and all. I have a Mac Pro Tower and I can hook the Monitor right up to it. Very Cool. I don't have a Blu Ray yet, I'M still waiting to see the next generation of players, and maybe a Game BR Player may be a good choice. They make Mod Chips for them to do just about anything.

There is a ceiling fan right above the set and that will help keep it cool. These LCD sets run much cooler than a Plasma set and saves a bit on the power bill over plasma.

I like this set so much I'M buying two more, one to ship to mom and one for a guest bedroom. The pedestal base is very nice. My set does not have a clicking problem like I read in another post.

I read consumer reports, all kinds of reviews, and the salesman. Bottom Line, the set has a stunning clear picture and was half 1/2 the price of the Sony. So I got 2 for 1 on this deal. You will not be disappointed with this set.

Don't buy a Plasma just to be cool, the LCD TV's are just as good if not better in many ways. I see many people buying the larger 720P Plasma TV's because they dropped the price to dump them. Take the time to look at a 720P next to a 1080P (Hopefully this set) and you will understand the 1080P is the set to own for the next few years.

This is a long post, but I wanted to give a review from a regular gent who tell's it like it is.

I don't buy a Brooks Brothers Shirt because of the name, I buy them because they custom make each shirt to my neck and sleeve size. Like 18 1/2" neck and 35 1/2" sleeve. Not just S, M, L, XL and a Polo on the pocket. Don't buy something just because of the brand. Look at the all sets and let your eyes make the decision.

All The Best,
