a religous look at marriage
This book is way over priced! I learnt nothing from this book, however it could be of help to a very younge, religous couple, new to military life. I do believe that there are better books out there that could be more help and that are cheaper.
what was the hype about?
this book is a good book. not exactly what i thought i would get based on the other reviews. to me it just reemphasizes what any happily married couple knows... communication, understanding, and intimacy are the key. it doesnt even really tell you how to get those or regain those. so for me it was a redundant book. it is cute and well written but if you are looking for great insight than this book is not what you are looking for.
Necessary for today's military families

For the cost of a couple of fast food meals, you can purchase this lovely, hardbound 83-page book that may just save your relationship. It seems like a no brainer to me, but if you need more convincing, read on.
Janel Lange, the wife of a Deacon and retired Navy Commander, serves up wonderful advice on how to keep your marriage strong during the deployment of a service member. Since they have been married for nearly 40 years, she has much experience to draw from. She shares her personal stories but those of other families as well. She goes on to share that "we're not alone or unique in what we're encountering, and we develop a support system in which we know others share our values. We learn that there are other couples who also want more than simply to survive a deployment. They also want to emerge as couples who have grown closer through the experience of separation." This wisdom alone is worth the cost of the book.
If you know anyone who is currently separated from a spouse or loved one because of military duties or who may be in the future, give this book as a gift to them. If you do not, purchase a couple of copies and send them to the nearest base Chaplain where I am fairly certain they will be passed along to a loving couple and much appreciated.
