Product Description

Forget the rising gasoline prices. Now you can fuel you car, truck, motorcycle or RV without gasoline. Don't let the rising gasoline prices choke your budget and cause sleepless nights. Jim Wortham began his study of alternative energy in 1979 when he compiled research and car conversion information for this book. Jim was part of a grassroots movement to convert cars, trucks, motorcycles, lawnmowers and farm machinery to run on legally made home distilled alcohol. Jim insists that you can completely eliminate the use of petroleum oil by using synthetic motor oil instead of conventional oil. One of the synthetic oils, "Mobil 1," was selected and used as the original motor oil for Chevrolet Corvette, Mercedes Benz AMG, Porche, Dodge Viper, Dodge Ram SRT 10, and Cadillac CTS, XLR, SRX, STS. "Mobil 1" is the official motor oil of NASCAR. Jim explains how most anyone can get a permit to make alcohol fuel, how to make a moonshine still, how to distill alcohol, and provides photos and instructions of car engine modifications. A frequent question from readers is "What is the cost per gallon when using alcohol as fuel"? Farmers using crops for distillation have reported the cost to be about $1.50 or less per gallon. Purchasing sugar may be an easier and less expensive way to make alcohol instread of using crops. Most cities have chemical companies that will sell alcohol in 55-gallon containers. Prices per gallon may greatly vary from company to company. The buring of alcohol as automotive fuel does not polute the air, saving people from potential health problems. Jim worked in partnership with Keat B. Drane, who wrote a book titled "Convert Your Car To Alcohol." Keat completed all the conversion of a Dodge Dart for less than $37. To update the readers with additional information, Jim has included a coupon in back of his book for a Free "Alternative Fuel Update Report." This report will catch the reader up with current trends and information on modifying newer engines.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap
This book is easy reading. Read it through before doing anything that is suggested. It won't take long. Maybe an hour or two. When I wrote this book, I got a permit to legally make alcohol. I'll tell you how you can get one too. I'll show you how to make simple and safe alcohol. Don't be frustrated by any complex magazine articles or technical books you have read on making fuel. I have read some of them. It would cost a fortune to buy the materials they suggest. Some of their technical jargon would scare an engineer. I don't have much money. So I used whatever I had on hand to make my alcohol fuel still. I'll show you my simple way--the way mountain folks made it from things lying around in the yard. I hope you enjoy this trip. I plan to update this book soon so let me know if you want me to contact you when the new edition is available. I would enjoy any feedback you have regarding making or using alcohol or any other alternative fuel. Customer Reviews

Or if you own an old pickup or tractor or.....4
This is a response to the above reviewer who found the book useless. A lot of people still have old tractors, pickups or cars older than 20 years. Also, any late model fuel injected car can run 50% alcohol with no problem. If you use Swifty brand gas, you are already using 10% ethanol. Plus, if you can't afford to put gas in that big block Chevy to cruise around in, remember that top fuel dragsters and indy cars both run on alcohol. Plus, the hi-compression motors of the old days love this stuff. Stills are pretty easy to make. I have a friend that brews up his own moonshine on the stove with a converted pressure cooker.

Another waste of money and time1
This is another example of someone trying to make money by marketing old ideas in a time when the ethanol industry is on the verge of a major contribution to alternative fuels. The trouble with this book and so many others like it is that the author has not updated the book to keep up with technological advancements in the alternative fuels field. This book is totally useless in the 21st cenbtury unless maybe you own a 1955 Edsel with a carburetor.
