From the Manufacturer
Every Kindle comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty. With the 2-Year Extended Warranty for Kindle, you will receive protection against accidental damage such as drops or spills for the entire two years. In the 2nd year, your coverage extends to protect against failures that occur during normal operation. This helps avoid the inconvenience and costs associated with a broken device. The warranty stays with the device even if it is gifted or sold to another party.
What is Covered
- Two years of coverage (limited to a single claim) for accidental drops or damage such as spills that affect the functionality of your covered device.
- One additional year of coverage (after the end of the manufacturer’s warranty) for failures that occur during normal operation.
- Only available to U.S. customers.

Customer Reviews
Worked for me!
I didn't buy my extended warranty when I bought my kindle but after receiving it and feeling it in my hands, I felt the need to buy the extended warranty. The product felt slippery in my hands. So I bought it and i'm glad I did. Less than two weeks later, my Kindle fell off a counter onto a tile floor. It cracked the screen and would not function. 45 minutes later, I called the support number and after 5 minutes, they were shipping me a new kindle.
I got my new kindle in less than 48 hours after it hit the floor. No questions, no send it in and we'll decide if we will repair it, no hassles whatsoever!
I have read other reviews here and just wanted to say that 65 bucks to replace a device that I broke is worth it. I had my kindle for about a month and if i had not bought the extended warranty, i would be sitting here with a 350 dollar paperweight.
Thanks Amazon!
I'm buying
I debated about this, too. I've never like buying these things and I have read all the pros and cons here in the reviews. For me the one time drop replacement is key. The fact that the warranty includes the shipping both ways if you need to replace means an additional savings of $25 or so at least.
I checked out the company - they've been around for 12 years and have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
I'm taking my Kindle on several trips in the next few months, I read it on the subway to and from work, and carry it with me everyday. The chances of something going wrong or it being dropped or bashed into are probably greater than for others. $65 is worth it to me.
For those complaining that this is only for a year - it's for an ADDITIONAL YEAR but the drop protection is the value added item which starts with purchase. If you subtract the roundtrip shipping (since that is part of the protection) you're actually paying $20/$25 a year for drop protection over the course of two years.
Even if drop protection WAS one year with no postage included, we're still talking $5 a month (one less latte or McDonald's breakfast per month) in order to have peace of mind. SOLD.
Read Carefully Before Purchasing
This is extending the Amazon warranty against product defects for ONE year NOT two years as it runs parallel to Amazons original one year warranty. The benefit of paying for this warranty is if you are like me and need accident protection for your device. The original amazon warranty does not protect against drops, spills, adventurous two year olds, etc...., where as this one does. So if you're clumsy, or seem to have bad luck with electronic devices, the $65 dollars is probably worth the cost. Also keep in mind that the warranty is ONLY valid in the US.
