SILPA RAJU is also a student at Barrington High School (IL). She wrote the English and Writing sections of this book. How much would you pay to have a perfect scorer tell you the strategies that he actually used to get a perfect score and explain in detail how he would answer every question on a real official ACT test? This book does exactly that for the price of a couple of value meals at fast food restaurant. Going though the book is like having your own perfect scoring tutor. The original version of the book was excellent, but the second version is even better. It has many new strategies, and analyses the new official practice test from the ACT. This book is worth getting even if you have the first edition, since it is essentially a different book.

This book lists all the essential knowledge and concepts that you need to know for the test without the irrelevant material that plague most of the most of the other books. I have seen several real ACT tests and have never found a single ACT question that required a grammar rule or punctuation rule that was not addressed in this book. The math content section has a list of all the formulas that you must memorize. I have yet to see a real ACT math question that required a formula that was not in this book. The book is full of brilliant insights that not found in any other books. For example, did you know that ACT designs some math questions so that if you overuse the calculator, the problem will take longer? The author gives examples of real ACT questions that actually do this. Many of the unique strategies actually refer to question numbers on the official practice test, so that you can see how the strategies work on real questions.

Getting a high score on the ACT is not about how much you know. It is about knowing how to apply an essential core set of concepts with great speed and accuracy. This book identifies the core set of concepts and gives you more effective strategies to increase your speed and accuracy than any other book. The strategies actually work! I have never been able to finish the reading and science sections of the ACT before using the strategies in this book, but after using the techniques in this book, I was able to get perfect scores on both these sections!

Even if you only have a few days prepare for the test, get this book. You can get through it very quickly, and it will probably add a few points to your score. If you have a few week and you do every thing that is in recommended in the ACT preparation plan listed in the book, you will probably get a stellar score!

Very Concise, Useful ACT Prep Book
I used this book to prepare for the ACT and scored a 33 composite score (that's better than over 99% of people that take the test)! If you follow this book's instructions, you will do well on the ACT. I highly recommend it!

Like no other ACT book on the market, a MUST BUY for anyone who wants to maximize their score
When the first edition of this book came out, I was sure that it was the best ACT prep book ever made (and trust me I have read through plenty of them). I couldn't help but order a copy of this new edition given the five point jump my younger brother made after reading the first book, and at a price of $10 I really had nothing lose. To my amazement, this edition is even BETTER than the first with even more added insights into mastering not only the academic content of the ACT but also the nuances of the different question types. For example, I didn't even know that the English section has recently begun to move away from memorization of grammer rules and toward a more intuitive understanding of English syntax. This new edition addresses these subtle yet vital distinctions, so in my opinion a high school student would really be at a disadvantage not giving this book a read. It also comprises insightful and instructive solutions to a full real ACT practice exam, but this time to the most recent free practice exam released. Thus the majority of the book is new content. I must emphasize again that I really cannot believe how refreshing and useful the advice in this book is. It contains so many tips that cannot be found in ANY other test prep book from the big names like Kaplan and Princeton Review. All in all, this is a MUST BUY for anyone who wants to maximize their ACT score and their chances of getting into the college of their choice.
