JESS MASTRIANI

was on vacation when Amber went missing. Most people blame Jess for Amber's brutal slaying, but how could Jess -- even with her psychic ability to find anyone, anywhere -- have stopped the cheerleader from turning up dead, without having known she was even missing?

When yet another cheerleader disappears, Jess has a chance to redeem herself. If she can just find the girl before it's too late, maybe Jess will finally have a chance to be part of the in crowd. Except that it's starting to look like being "in" might just get you -- not to mention your loved ones -- killed. So much for popularity.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
Grade 9 Up-Jessica Mastriani, 16, has been having psychic visions ever since she was struck by lightning, earning her the nickname Lightning Girl at school. When a cheerleader disappears and is found dead, Jessica reluctantly uses her psychic abilities to catch the culprits. This third addition to a series by the author (aka Meg Cabot) of The Princess Diaries (HarperCollins, 2000) will be popular with teen girls. The author accurately captures the voice of the narrator, a girl just beyond the boundaries of the popular crowd. The blend of romance and suspense adds to the appeal, as does the protagonist's take-charge attitude in solving the crime. With so many series out there, librarians may want to purchase one or two of the volumes to see how they will be received.

Safe House5
Out of all the series up to Safe House, the books only got better. When Lightning Strikes was good, Code Name Cassandra was great, and Safe House was excellent! I can only hope Jess's next book is even better.

When Amber Mackey turns up dead heads turn towards the QB Mark. And Jess. Only Jess because no one could get a hold of her so she couldn't find her before she was dead. Then Heather Montrose went missing. It was up to Jess to find her only finding her would put into an awfull poistion with the Feds. I won't reveal the other girl who ends up missing and the awful threats Jess receives from someone I did expect and another I didn't. Suspenseful and intresting. Especially when they find Heather in a bad location but weather or not shes dead or alive... is a mystery!

What a great book. Something about this series is so addictive, and I am just caught up in how funny the writing is, and still unable to put the book down no matter how hard I try. It was funny, it was interesting, it was a very quick read, and this is one of the best series that I've ever read.
