These are pretty cool
My husband asked for these for Christmas. They required a little tuning, but a tuning hammer is included and it wasn't hard. My husband is a conga player, and he loves these! I also got him the Mel Bay Learning the Tabla book and CD set that teaches all the rhythms. He liked that a lot. I'd come home from work and find him practicing. He's very good now. They're a very nice set.

Great Bargain
For the money, it is a great bargain. The sound quality is pretty good. Especially the little wooden drum (dayan) sounds great! However, the aluminum bayan isn't as warm/pleasant, which to me sounds too high in pitch. I'm not completely sure how to tune it though, so until then, I'm considering saving for a new bayan.

Do not buy this
I received this tabla in a very poorly packaged manner. All the wooden pieces (which are used to tune) were scattered in the box. I had to spend lot of time trying to fit them and tune them. However, the tabla is not too well-tuned inspite of lot of effort. I would suggest you not to buy this. It was shipped by BHARGAVA traders who did not even bother to send me the bill and CD manual as described in the product description.
