Customer Reviews

You could whittle FAR better than this sharpens 1
Holy crapola this thing is bad! Whatever happened to those pencil sharpeners that, if you didn't watch what you were doing, you'd end up with a very sharp nub--because THAT'S what I wanted, NOT this pencil dullener! Not only does it NOT sharpen new pencils, it won't even resharpen a slightly dull pencil!

I got this to sharpen the two new tins of Prismacolor colored pencils, which came unsharpened. See the photos of how crappily it attempts--after a long time of pushing, jamming, twirling, wobbling, and continued poking--to sharpen a pencil...and I'm using the term "sharpen" VERY loosely here. You do not get a point--you get a flat stub of pencil. The pencils in the photo are the ones I needed to use first. Some I still haven't sharpened yet since I can't even get the most used ones sharp enough to even use. The bottom or most right tan pencil still has wood covering part of the lead--I tried every technique known to man in using a pencil sharpener to get this sharper so the wood would not protrude, but no, this sharpener (dullener) just would not shave any more off of this pencil. There needs to be ZERO stars for this hateful thing.

Attractive design but ..........1
I bought this product because of the Stanley name. It was a big mistake! This sharpener does not sharpen pencils sharp enough unlike the old types that you manually crank. It takes too long to work on a pencil up to a point where the lead just shows, but the tip is still dull. That small sharpener that you used and carried in your pouch in your elementary school years could do a better job than this electric unit. Poorly made and total waste of money.

Horrible sharpener1
The sharpener is very light and looks decent.

Functionally, this is the worst sharpener I have ever used. It takes forever to sharpen one pencil, about 3 or 4 times longer than every other sharpener I have used. Pencils wobble when sharpening, and when I empty the shavings, the low back on the shavings holder does nothing to prevent spilling.

Bostitch sacrificed functionality for aesthetics and tried cutting costs by reducing blade size and power. I am returning mine.
