Customer Reviews
Beautiful cover - rich and vibrant color
This cover is much better in person than pictured. It is smooth leather - which does have a shine to it, which I will assume will fade with time (as the leather is broken in). It is a tad darker in color than pictured, but very rich and vibrant. I returned the pebbled dark blue cover as I felt it was too dark and dull for my tastes. So, if bright blue (reminds me of the ocean in Mexico) is not your taste try M-edge Genuine Leather Executive Jacket for Amazon Kindle (Pebbled Navy Blue)-New design compatible with e-Luminator booklight!.
Things to note:
-It is embossed on the back with M-edge's logo - a bit too large for my taste
-The cover is slightly larger than the stock cover
-There is a pocket for the e-Luminator light in the inside CENTER of the cover - this makes it stick out one way or the other if you fold back the front cover onto itself when reading (e.g. it won't fold in the middle like the cheapo stock cover)
-I'm not wild about the stacked design of the interior pockets - they are stiff too - I am worried they would get stretched out if I try and shove too much in there. But, you should be able to get an SD card or plastic room key in there without trouble
-It comes very stiff - be warned - you must break the leather in yourself. It will soften with time - which will make the kindle fit in easier as time passes.
-I REALLY dislike the tab closer - it is really awkward to open - you have to slide it out (I hook it with my finger), and it is really a long tab. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they chose this closing mechanism.
Strange Dog's covers are amazing (if you can get one) and Oberon Design's covers are incredible (if you can afford them). If you 1) cannot wait and hope you are lucky enough to check the website at the right time or 2) you don't want to invest in a REALLY pricey cover, this is a really beautiful alternative. It would make a wonderful gift for Kindie.
Happy with my choice!
This cover looks good, fits my kindle well, and allows me to safely take my kindle where I want to go. I like the smooth bright blue leather--it is easy to find when I set it down somewhere, and it reminds me of the beach. The kindle fits in it well, and the small pockets inside allow some business cards, a pen, a room key, index cards--that is about all. I have had no problems with the closure, like it just fine. The cover folds back to allow a small light to be clipped on. The elastic holder on the upper right corner allows easy access to the switches on the back. The inside is soft grey suede. You can access all the plug-ins without removing the kindle from the cover. I am happy with it and love it!
Much Better Cover Than Stock Cover!
I just got my cover today, & once I got over my disappointment in the color variation, it grew on me! In all the pics I've seen, the color was a nice pretty sky blue, but when I opened the package, I was surprised to see more of a turquoise sort of blue! I didn't like it at 1st, & thought about sending it back, but I didn't know what color I'd exchange it for. I had a hard enough time deciding on this color! If they made the cases in the same colors as the m-edge cases for the Kindle 2 it would have been an easy choice, purple, or if that was out then fuschia. But with the Kindle 1 case our choices in the genuine leather are limited to varying shades of brown, blue, black, green, red, or white. I wanted purple! But I'm not going to sell my K1, then get the K2 so that I could get the purple cover. After looking at it all afternoon, I decided the color wasn't so bad, it's actually pretty nice. As I said, it's kind of a turquoise color. If you have a bigger box of Crayola Crayons, it's a darker shade of cerulean blue. When I colored a spot of paper with the cerulean crayon & held the cover next to it, the cover is almost exactly that same color, only just a bit darker, but not a whole lot darker. On to the cover! I love it!! It's much nicer than the stock Kindle 1 cover! I love how the Kindle fits in there, & then once you have it in there, you can turn it any which way & the Kindle stays secure. Unlike the stock cover where you thought you had it in there & then moved it just right & it came loose. Also with the stock cover some of the buttons are covered up, especially if you use the elastic strap on the right lower corner to help hold the Kindle more securely. With this cover it took me a couple of tries, but then I was able to get the Kindle in there without a big struggle. I've read where some have had to cut the top left corner holder to make it easier to get the Kindle in & out, but mine's not overly tight once I figured out which corners to put in first. The lower right corner is tighter, but the 2 left corners are kind of loose, but not so loose that the Kindle falls out, I think it's just to help so it's not so hard to get it in & out. The top right elastic band is easy enough to remove to get to the switches on the back & then easily replaced for more security. The back & front cover pages are stiff, but not overly rigid, I like them. On the front it closes with a long tongue sort of thing that you have to slide in to a covered loop, but I haven't had any problems with it either. There's the m-edge logo on the back lower part of the cover, but it's not really noticeable. I love this cover! It's worth the money to protect my investment, & as I said, I think it's much nicer than the stock cover. I wonder why the Kindles didn't come with a nicer cover like this to begin with!!
