Customer Reviews

classy & sturdy4
This is an affordable, classy piece of furniture. I have one in my livingroom and it's just the right height for reaching for things from the adjacent couch. The recessed center means a spilled drink can quickly be mopped up without getting on the floor... but it wouldn't be good to let moisture just sit there. The slight flare to the legs adds a touch of elegance. My less than perfect rating is due to the shallowness of the drawer. I have a few remotes in the drawer - but they are tiny remotes for a radio and a CD changer. The big universal remotes for TV, ReplayTV, & DVD player won't fit in the drawer because the buttons stick up too much... so I mostly stick the absorbent stone coasters in the drawer- but I can only stack them 2-deep!

Looks nice but very cheap2
When you first put it together it looks nice, although you can totally tell its a cheap piece of furniture. I suppose for the low price of $79.99 its worth it but the finish is already chipping all around the sides and the top. Deep scratches etc. I have no children or pets, just two adults using this table and its not holding up well after just a few months. It's also way too small to be of use as a coffee table I think.

I should have known as I also have the dolce desk and filing cabinet and the desk is horribly scratched all over it, it looks terrible and the finish has rubbed off all over after less than a year of use.

The folding bookcase I have and love. It has no scratches or finish rubbing off but mainly I think because it never gets touched.

The dolce collection looks nice but its very cheaply made and looks it as well.

Excellent Style - Moderately High Functionality4
All things considered, I highly recommend the Dolce coffeetable. It's very attractive and boasts at least moderately functional storage space - and all for a very reasonable price. I spent a few years in my search for the "perfect" coffeetable - antique stores, furniture stores, department stores, junk shops, etc. I was DETERMINED to find a reasonably-priced, attractive, wood coffeetable that would adequately suit my somewhat ecclectic style. It really didn't seem like such a difficult task - just four legs and a rectangular slab of wood.

I came across the Dolce coffeetable early in my search, but didn't buy it because of its low price (fearing low quality). At the time, I worked in a local furniture store and so subsequently saw seemingly HUNDREDS of other coffee and cocktail tables, all of which were either outrageously expensive for my limited student budget or were hideously unattractive or were of styles that would in no way fit appropriately in my apartment.

Finally, while I was preparing for an upcoming party and consequently deciding that I was sick of looking, I broke down and purchased the Dolce. I have never regretted it. Assembly was very easy and resulted in a piece that's very attractive, very simple, and of more than sufficient quality - even in a room where it gets pretty much daily use.

My ONLY complaint about the coffeetable regards the undersized drawer. In an apartment as small as mine, I would have preferred something with a larger drawer or some other kind of substantial storage space. As it is, I can only manage to fit two remote controls and some coasters in it. It's also slightly smaller than the hole cut for it, so at some angles, you can see light around it's edges.

Still, these are minor points and I would most certainly purchase the table again, if I needed another. It certainly hasn't stopped me from purchasing other pieces in the Dolce collection.
