Decent quality, knife in the handle. Make sure to remove the knife before you start chopping or it will fly out! Buy a Gransfors Bruks if you want a great axe, but this fits in a pack and works great for kindling etc.

Well reviewed, rugged, submersible. Works in the car, on the water, on the trail, on the bike. I've used it in all these situations and it worked in each. The altimeter is on crack but no complaints otherwise. My favorite feature is the ability to tell the unit whether to follow roads or not. The logging capability is cool, most of my favorite mountain bike trails are now mapped out in detail!

Available in different configurations. You could buy the PCS and add on the coffee press like I did or buy this package deal. The Jetboil is a fantastic little stove and boils a quart of water in two minutes. The coffee press add-on is essential because the last vestige of civilization I will EVER give up is real coffee in the morning.

Works as advertised. Tiny and light, packs into a minuscule container. At some point I will replace this with an MSR stove that runs on gasoline.

Not as well made as a Petzl, but cheap, comfortable, very bright (55 Lumens), and includes a red light setting that is powerful enough to find your way around a dark campsite without affecting night vision.

Lightweight, water resistant, and collapsible, this lamp hangs from the ceiling of my tent by a mini-carabiner. It goes forever on a set of batteries (I've replaced them twice in almost a year of use) and gives off a good amount of light.

Does everything. Extremely well made and inexpensive.

Sturdy and functional. Heavier than a titanium spork, but a little more civilized. The only issue I have is due to my upbringing in Europe - I like to eat with a knife and fork (without swapping) and this little guy doesn't come apart. I usually use it with my big knife for eating. Not the best design with all the utensils attached to each other, but very well made.

Fantastic rain shell. Breathable, lightweight yet indestructible, fully taped, weighs in at under a pound.

Absolutely fantastic lightweight hiking shoe for the nicer seasons. Vibram soles provide stellar grip, and the shoes are lighter than most sneakers. Very breathable. Tightening system allows shoes to fit snugly to avoid toe damage when hiking downhill.

A great little weapon of last resort for the urban jungle. The holes in the sheath align perfectly with the eyelets on a pair of combat or tactical boots (see the Magnum boots also in this list) for concealment & accessibility.

Have to have at least 50 feet of this in any survival kit.

What can I say, it works. In case I run our of Bics, although it's been replaced by the UST survival kit and my new Sparkie.
