I GUESS WE ALL HAVE A DIFFRENT VERSION
MAKAVELI & DILINGER
DON'T GO 2 SLEEP
Daz released this to the street s years ago and since then there have been about 4 or 5 different versions of this EP circulating. I believe I have the second version, not sure though.
1.INTRO
2.DON'T GO 2 SLEEP [RMX]-the first song out the gate is a great remix with Pac, Daz and Kurupt. Pac of course sounds great over this track with a great verse, as does Kurupt and Daz. The beat is real dark sounding and perfect for these three to get down to. Daz really impressed me on this song with his verse. Over all a great way to open the EP, definitely worth listening to.4.5/5
3.FIRST 2 BOMB [RMX]-this album just gets better with this track right here, the beat alone on this track is amazing. I really think that Daz really out did the original on this one with this instrumental. Pac of course sounds great over this brilliant production, each verse of his sounds outstanding over this beat. And Daz continues to improve as an MC. This by far one of the bets song released from either man.5/5
4.LET'S GET IT LET'S FIGHT-this were the album starts to go down a little, not that it's bad. The beat would sound great by it's self but put over Pac's verse on this song just doesn't sound right. Even Daz doesn't sound as great over this beat, still an ok track though.3.5/5
5.UM DUMPIN'-the album starts to pick up again with this song right here, the beat is on point and Y.A. is in the house. Roscoe sounds great over this excellent production, as does Eastwood. Both of which deliver excellent guest verses over a some what eerie sounding instrumental. Daz sounds good on this track as well, Tri sounds just as good on this track. Of course Pac delivers a great verse, and Kurupt is all over this song.5/5
6.THEY DON'T GIVE A **** ABOUT US-I am positive you all have already heard this track here, this is the exact same version that was released later on the "Better Dayz" album from Pac. This track has a great instrumental, and the Outlawz feature on this track. This is a classic track.5/5
7.DON'T GO 2 SLEEP [OG]-this is the original version of the song that features EDI of The Outlawz dropping some gems for all to enjoy. Daz is also on this version as well and probably produced this version as well. And while this version is very good and definitely worth listening to, I really believe that the remix is the soupier version. Give this a listen though, it is still a good song.4.5/5
8.FIRST 2 BOMB [OG]-this really is just like the previous track, a very good song but the remix out does it. With this track in particular I think Daz really out did the original version. The Outlawz come through on this version with Pac dissing Bad Boy, LL Cool J, and Mobb Deep. This like the previous still is definitely worth a listen, a cool beat and great lyrics make this a keeper. Still though the remix is just insane.4/5
This version of the EP I have is a great little album, if you can find it get.
Makaveli & Daz Dillinger - Don't Go 2 Sleep Ep
Daz Dillinger (A.K.A. Delmar Arnaud) released "Don't Go 2 Sleep Ep" in 2001, which features material from 1995-96 when 2Pac and Daz Dillinger were label mates on Death Row. Pac's mom Afeni Shakur would go on to sue Daz for this unauthorized release and use of Pac's name, stating she had never been informed/given consent. The "Wake Up My People" (Intro) has Pac laughing and telling his enemies to go to sleep, the follow up title track "Don't Go To Sleep" has Pac kicking some thugged out rhymes, while Young Gotti (better known as Kurupt) drops some of his own. "First 2 Bomb" features the background singing of Tanya Herron, while Dillinger and Pac drop lyrical bombs. Pac and his brethren the Outlawz provide an outstanding cut with "They Don't Give a Fucc About Us" (a track found on the better dayz album) - Pac's hunger and raw emotion are definitely evident on this cut. "Let's Fight" & "I'm Dumpin" are similar thugged out track which lack decent production. "Only Move 4 Tha Money" is the Ep's last standout track, good lyrics, solid production. This release was shelved and has been released with different versions over the years. Rest of album consists of mostly originals and mixes (depending on which version you have). I posted the album cover, as well as the original picture which influenced the artwork. The "Don't Go 2 Sleep Ep" is a decent release, which die hard fan's (like myself) of Pac's music may want to check out. 3.5.
4.5 star Daz & 2Pac collaboration
A few new tracks from the late great 2Pac & Daz ar eon this one. A lot of the songs are the same on here, just having a different beat or different guests, but it's a banging album. Also I heard most of the songs before on other albums or mixtapes but I still had to pick up a copy (and a few of the songs on here the quality is not the best). The beats are tight on most of the songs, and guest appearances from the Outlawz, Kurupt, and Young Assassins (Roscoe, Eastwood and 2 other cats). A great album to have for fans of Daz & 2Pac if you don't have the songs already.
