I chose Serious Laughter as a required text for a COM230 Scriptwriting class at Monroe Community College because I found it to be a unique book in stimulating people to think funny. It was just what the doctor ordered, not only in the classroom but also in the lives of many of my students. Nothing Ive found compares.
Barry Goldfarb, Associate Professor of Communications, Monroe Community College

Serious Laughter is a syllabus on enjoyment. It leads us through many fun topics and solutions. In a sense it is a chapter on desserts- one page being more delectable then the other. To sum it up the dedication says it all: "There are three things that are real- God, human folly and laughter. The first two are beyond comprehension. So, we must do what we can with the third."
Rhoda Lee Fisher, Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist Co-Author of Pretend The World Is Funny

Yvonne Conte shares one of the most important lessons in life - you always have a choice. Sometimes life leaves you standing in manure. Serious Laughter is the how to guide to holding your nose and laughing

Community College hubris1
Ms. Conte is a "community college" graduate; it reflects in her book. To follow this dismal paperback with a book concerning a child and the 9/11 experience is appauling and reflects her uneducated hubris.

A great book to support healthy living!5
I am a health educator and often refer my clients to this book since it's so full of joy and the light-heartedness that nurtures our spirit and promotes health!!
I highly recommend it!

laughing my way across the ocean....5
I took this book with me on a trip I took to Europe last summer. I had it read in less than two days. It was very entertaining and kept my attention but more than that I found it to be very insightful. The stories she has in there about her family really crack me up because they could be my family too. At times I laughed out loud reading them. I am a college student right now and would recommend this book to college students to help them cope with the stress that comes with attending college. I think anyone could benefit from using a little more laughter in life. After all laughter really is the best medicine. I was not aware of how instrumental laughter is to our health. Read this book and find great ways to add laughter to your days.
