Rachel Pollack is considered one of the world's foremost authorities on the modern interpretation of the tarot. She is a member of the American Tarot Association, the International Tarot Society, and the Tarot Guild of Australia, and has taught at the famed Omega Institute for the past 15 years. She is an award-winning fiction writer and has also written 12 books on the tarot. She lives in New York.

Great Book
I have not finished this book yet. However, it has met and exceeded my expectations. Nice coverage and history of each card so far. Doesn't seem to get bogged down with divinitory meanings. I don't think some of the authors out there do themselves any favors by stating volumes of divinatory meanings. By having a thorough understanding of the cards, the subtle meanings will shine through. This book will help you reach that different level. I have several books on the tarot and this one is quickly becoming a favorite.

excellent book
This is an excellant book; illustrative, informative and, easy to understand. The writer includes the cultural history and mythology of the cards making interpreting them more feel more natural. It should be required reading for any beginning reader.

Not useful
I found this book to be pretty useless.
The meaninings described in the book are plain confusing because they are wrong. Someone who'd been studying tarot before would not find one single match between their card meanings and the card meanings there. I was wondering which deck did the author use to get inspiration for the card meanings. I have been reading Tarot for a while and I found zero useful information in this book, I believe it could confuse someone who just started studying tarot. As for more experienced tarot readers, it is completely useless, as they will not be able to add anything to their knowledge and experience.
