Customer Reviews

Good, but be careful!4
I purchased the 2006 edition of this book and have used it extensively. I have only sent out a dozen or so queries so far, but have been encouraged that most of the agents and publishers have responded, even if the response is not what I would like to hear yet. A couple of cautions however, first, verify addresses on the web whenever possible. I sent out a couple of packages to publishers who were no longer at the address listed and left no forwarding address. Second, even though this guide is considered beneficial, sometimes scammers get through the system. I had my book accepted by a publisher only to find out that they weren't what they claimed. The pubisher is PublishAmerica and is apparently in the business of making money off of authors and not the public. Fortunately, because there is so much dishonesty everywhere nowadays, I did a Google search about this publisher only to find they had many disgruntled author/clients who were stuck in long contracts they couldn't get out of. I highly suggest that if you recieve an acceptance letter from anyone in this book, you check the agent or publisher out on the web before signing anything. You will save yourself a lot of heartache!

Exclusively for Fiction Writers Wanting to Get Published5
Get your fiction published. Every writer wishes it was as simple as that but the task of getting published is hard enough without having the yearly Novel & Short Story Writer's Market by your side.

Every fiction market imaginable is included. Literary magazines, agents, small circulation, online markets, consumer magazines, book publishers, contests, awards and conferences are all at your fingertips in the 600+ pages of information.

Just as the publishing world is always changing, so are the yearly guides. The 2007 edition contains the complete listings you're familiar with and the type of work represented, contacts, complete contact info and payment terms. But a new section for writers of graphic novels and comics has also been added.

Helpful articles aren't just a bonus in the guide. They're full of information to help you create work that is saleable and solid. Sections include craft and technique, getting published, specialty areas for mystery writers, romance writers, sci fi, fantasy and horror writers as well as the newly added graphic novel and comics writers category.

The Novel & Short Story Writer's Market is in its 26th year. It's an invaluable tool exclusively for fiction writers.

If you're even thinking of publishing your fiction, this guide could be your ticket. All of the listings are 100-percent updated and there's no better way to find the market best suited for your work.

2007 Novel & Short Story Writer's Market4
I really think this source book for submitting short stories to literary reviews and other entities is invaluable. It cuts out a lot of lost time by indicating which publishers would accept your pieces. The only fault I have with it is it doesn't include examples of particular submission letters, but all in all I find the information in it right on target.
