Mendez speaks5
I remember my teacher, Pappy Mitchell, showing me this book back in the 1970's and I had wished I could find a copy of the original, hard-bound book - never did, but was so pleased to see this new edition.
They were contemporaries and played together in the movie studios.
Mendez was an amazing trumpet player and teacher - his musical excellence & perfection of technique has been rarely matched - There is a wonderful CD tribute to Mendez on Summit Records that I have really enjoyed (check that out as well, hosted by Doc Severinsen).
The book is a welcome conversation for new and continuing brass players - some wonderful insights into taming this 'beast' we call a horn.
Highly recommended for your library.

Mendez Book5
Excellent book! Mr Mendez explains concepts clearly and gives examples from his own experiences as one of the best, if not the best, trumpeter the wolrd has ever known. This book complements many of the beginning music method books available for the trumpet. Very much recommended!

Good book......4
I had the good fortune to meet this man when I was a young brat in the band at highschool. We were seated right down in front of the stage and got to see him in action and up close. If I could ever play a trumped marginally as well as this man could...I would be the happiest person in the world. His book requires a lot of work and I will admit that I am lazy! However, I feel that if one would set down and dillegently do what this book says to do, you would be able to play very well!!
