Product Description

Galileo excelled at the scientific arts of physics and astronomy. He invented a telescope powerful enough to discern sunspots and the moons of Jupiter. Galileo proved that objects of different masses fell at the same velocity. Called by the Catholic Church to renounce the Copernican model of the solar system, he saved his life by testifying that the sun revolves around a stationery earth. As he left the inquest, however, he is purported to have muttered the phrase, 'And yet... it moves!'

Very cool!5
I love my Galileo, I have him propped up on top of my big telescope at home & is a great coversation piece. I wish someone made a small statue or a bust of Galileo, but can't find one anywhere!

Celebrate Astronomy! Starry Messenger...5
I just love this little Galileo doll! He make an excellent conversation piece or prop, especially for the classroom or office. He is the perfect inspiration for the amateur astronomer and for those who question the nature of the universe. My Galileo came with a small card that had a mini-bio written on it and his famous "alleged" quote: "And yet...it moves!" This doll might make an interesting gift for a science minded friend or family member. Groups who are celebrating the International Year of Astronomy in 2009 might find this an interesting character to have around for promotional purposes.
