Slip on this Accutron VX-200 stainless steel men's automatic chronograph watch (model 28C03) and you'll feel confident enough take on any task--whether in the office or on weekend adventures. Stylishly appointed for everyday professional settings, it will also stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving with water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet). This large round watch is topped by a coin-edged, black-plated unidirectional rotating bezel with elapsed time markings in silver. It frames a black dial that's supplemented with three tonal chronograph subdials, large luminous hands (with sweeping seconds hand), large day and date display at 3 o'clock, and tachymeter readings around the exterior (which can be used to measure time over distance). It's completed by a handsome stainless steel bracelet band that's joined by a fold-over buckle with safety clasp and extender (for wearing over wetsuits). Other features include a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a screw-back with sapphire exhibition window, and screw-down crown.

An automatic (or self-winding) watch is fitted with a device (rotor) that automatically winds the spring by using the force of gravity. It needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time--as long as you're moving, the watch will stay powered. Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet invented the self-winding mechanism in 1770. It worked on the same principle as a modern pedometer, and was designed to wind as the owner walked.

Substantial with a great bracelet
I recommend this watch. The 28C03 is a Swiss-made timepiece that uses the Valjoux 7750 mechanical automatic chronograph movement, which is a very respected movement. The caseback has a window so you can see the movement at work. The rotor (it winds the movement when you wear your watch) is decorated with the Accutron logo. The watch is substantial but not overly big in diameter, though it is thick. Very nice multi-piece bracelet. This watch is all about the movement. What's a little unusual is that the day of week is displayed; most often that disk is left covered by the dial. My understanding is that this watch is no longer being manufactured.
