ACER eManagement software
This laptop is outstanding in functionality and cost. Just dont touch the green button and enter the 'E'mpowering technology. Stay away from it and stay away from anything that you need to enter passwords on this laptop. The ACER software will lead you to think your laptop will not be immune unless you do. If you do enter a password the laptop will be inaccessable to even you and you will have to send it in to get repaired. The warranty does not cover you forgetting a password, even though you typed it in and retyped it in. You will have to send it back on your own dime and pay to get it fixed. Don't look for a good warranty here. I had mine less than a month when this happened to me, actually less than 2 weeks.
I give the Laptop 5 thumbs, Acer warranty and support negative thumbs.
Works very well
If you are looking for a bargain priced computer to use for some on-line surfing and as a word processor, or to keep your digital documents/pictures on, this is the one. Quick bootup, no hassles at all setting it up, and the keyboard and the touch pad are quite user friendly (i.e. fingers dont easily slide off the keys; touchpad not too sensitive, etc). For advanced computing, it would do you no good, but for $400 a fantastic bargain.
Toots to Acer
I have had the Acer 5315 for 6 month and it was very afordable. I have no major problems except the mouse pad freezes and it is very sensitive to movement if your hand accidently swifts over the mouse pad. I have had to on several occasions take out the battery because the computer froze during the shut down process. All of my software loaded with no problem.
I am actually looking to upgrade my laptop end of the year and will give this laptop to my son. I will be looking for another Acer with more GB and possible larger screen if possible.
