Buy new: $129.99 / Used from: $97.86 The Nintendo DS Lite is still the best overall value in portable gaming systems this year. My personal favorite model is the cobalt and black one. It looks almost purple, and the underside has a matte finish that doesn't slip out of your hand as easily. They are back in stock now. Be forewarned that a new model is planned for sometime around or after the holidays.

 | Apple iPod touch 8 GB (1st Generation) OLD MODEL
Buy new: $209.99 / Used from: $99.00 The main reason for getting this iPod is not even for music and videos. The wireless browser is second to none! So if you plan on putting lots of music and movies on it, get the 32 GB model. But you can get great use out of the 8 GB model if you want to make use of the WiFi browsing and only plan on putting 4 GB or so of music on it.

Buy new: $349.99 / Used from: $230.99 I still own and use media players from Apple, Creative, Sandisk and others. The Zunes 3.0 software update fixed most of the major problems of version 2.0. This guy has extra features the iPod Classic doesn't have, and the same capacity since Apple did away with the 160 GB model (big mistake). iTunes still has more content and a better overall design. But Zune finally has a worthy competitor.

Buy new: $329.99 / Used from: $115.00 The smaller version of the Zune couldn't compete against the smaller and more mature iPod Nano 3G. But with the iPod Nano 4G, Apple has once again taken a step back. Look to pick up the 16GB model if you can, because growing out of the 8 GB will happen quicker than you think.

Buy new: $379.95 / Used from: $150.00 Canon's 790 IS is a great all-around point and shoot Camera. Many Canon models get more attention than this one, but out of the compact point and shoots this one is one of my favorites.
For my needs it's more appealing than Canon's SD890IS , SD950IS, SD770IS or SD1100IS models.

Buy new: Too low to display / Used from: $70.00 For those looking for a compact digital camcorder, the Flip Mino is a nice update to the Ultra and a great gift idea for 2008. The Ultra has the convenience of AA batteries. The Mino is slimmer and sleeker. The Minos charge lasts long enough to survive a few days without use and more than enough to fill up the video capacity.

Buy new: $1,995.84 / Used from: $980.00 My opinion may change once I actually get to live with this one for a while. But it's hard not to lust after the MacBook Air. There are other models available with solid state hard-drives, but their prohibitive cost make them unappealing. This 80 GB model has the features people want though the cost is still high. It's hard not to want one!
