Customer Reviews

Good Price4
I purchased this book for our daughter who is about to give birth to our first grandchild. I haven't looked at it but I had been told by others that it is a good book. For more information, ask my daughter in about a year. LOL.

GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT TO EXPECT 3
It is a good book to read while nursing, it has short chapters about each week of your baby's development with details on baby's milestones. It gives me an idea on what to expect more or less each week but I don't really agree with a lot of the advice it gives regarding baby care. After reading for a while I realized the book is written by an OB not a pediatrician and that doesn't make me feel as confident as with other baby books; however, this book has a great section each week which gives you ideas on games appropiate for your baby's age, I found that very usefull and since it is short I like it that I can read from end to finish (with newborns you have very little time to read)!

Use this book as a guide, not the bible!4
I really enjoyed this book because I like to have a sort of guide as to where my son should be, give or take. Also, for suggestions on games to play with him or things to do to help him develop certain skills that are pertinent for that time frame. I learned early on to not take this book, or any, as a sort of "bible".

My son was pretty much always a few weeks behind what they were saying he "should" be doing. And even though they give you a range in this book- babies that are on the high end of achievement and babies on the low, my son was still often past the low end. And he's perfectly fine and normal. Yet, this book did sort of worry me at times that maybe he was slow or behind for a reason. For that, I give it less stars. BUT, I can't complain too much, and neither can most buyers, because if you did buy this book looking to see where your child should be, to compare them, than you KNEW what you were buying. You, like I, knew that every child was different, but if you still bought the book, what did you expect? It's pretty clear by the title and this series what this is about. That being said, if you are a worrysome mom, or you don't want to compare your child, do NOT get this book. It isn't for you.

With all that being said, overall I still enjoyed the book. There was more than just what the baby should be doing, but also health info, games to play, common questions etc. I personally also enjoyed the Pregnancy Week by Week book, which is why I also got this one. Also, for the price, you are getting quite a lot of book, there is a LOT of information in here. As for the circumcision info, I can't say because my son is circ. However it is very frightening to think that there is falso info like that in this book, I am hoping that a newer updated version might be in the works??

Overall, I'd say think about what you want in an infant book and decide if this book is for you. I personally also enjoyed Your Baby's First Year by the AAP and Dr. Spock's book. And if you're breastfeeding, you must get BESTfeeding.
