From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"
This set of six CDs offers high school students basic and useful practice in algebra 1, algebra 2, statistics, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. In the Algebra 1 CD, for example, students choose from 12 chapters and pick a sub topic. After a written (and pictorial) demonstration of the concept (e.g. ratio and proportion), students answer 10 questions to show comprehension. Hint and Solution icons lead to useful and straightforward help, and general progress is described after each section. All things considered, although dry in format and somewhat lacking in depth, this handy set of CDs offers understandable explanations of difficult subjects.

Excellent foundational math program
We have used this software for many years to ensure our home school students have a firm understanding of the principles of mathematics. We have also used it to assess and strengthen their understanding of high school and college level mathematics for college entrance examinations.
The program provides math terminology, step by step analysis for each topic (including pause and resume) as well as a friendly voice to guide students through each topic. Our primary focus has been the Algebra and Trigonometry lessons although the calculus is excellent as well.
We're currently using an old version (1999) on a Vista laptop and haven't experienced any technical issues. It's a great program and I look forward to future releases!
Does not replace a textbook
This software does not replace good textbooks, but I think it's engaging enough to push good students over the brink to appreciate and excel at mathematics.
Not much fun, but excellent teaching
I used this as a revision when I went back to school after a few years of not having done any math. I expected to do no more than refresh my memory, but I was thrilled to find this software really shows you new ways to approach and understand the math, so I came out with a much better understanding than I ever had before.
There is a downside. One might expect learning software to be a little more fun than reading from a book. This really isn't. In fact, there's not really any point to this being in software form rather than as a book, as it's not interactive, doesn't have any multimedia and more or less reads like a book. Still, it's a wonderful way to get a deeper understanding of high school level math.
