Editorial Reviews

Marilyn Manson started out as a depraved, marginally talented group of freaks that played a caustic but undeveloped brand of metallic industrial noise. Then Trent Reznor stepped into the studio for seven months with the band, and Manson emerged with the most intense, visceral, mechanical metal album since The Downward Spiral. Antichrist Superstar is a horror-house of grisly atrocities that stains as indelibly as a bathful of warm blood. Brooding rhythms collide with corrosive samples and buzzsaw guitar riffs, while vocalist Marilyn croons irresistible melodies in the voice of a vagrant regurgitating broken light-bulb shards. Essential listening, regardless of how much input Reznor had. --Jon Wiederhorn

Should I Be Scared?3
I really like some of Marilyn Manson's songs. I think that "Holy Wood" is one of the greatest rock albums. I know that most of you think this is Manson's best album. Well, I bought it and listened to it over and over again. At first I didn't like it, then I started to like it a little bit but eventually I realized that this is electronic rock with no heart and soul. It seems that this album's only message is that religion is bad for you - and that's it. Well, I have to say that Marilyn Manson tells nothing new for us. We'd have known it for a long time if that's true. However, I try to concentrate on the music. I like some of the songs, like "The Beautiful People", "Torniquet", and "1996" but I would say that about half of the songs are too much. The album duration without the silent tracks is about 70 minutes. If he would have had some kind of sense he would have taken of at least 7 songs off and tried to make rest of the songs better. Now, everything is badly produced material. The songs like "Minute of Decay", "Man That You Fear", and "Kinderfeld" are quite meaningless. If you wanna make a concept album, please try to make every song a good one.

Terrific album5
Marilyn Manson puts out good albums, the guitar riffs are catchy, lyrics are awesome and the guy has a great voice for this type of music. The mid-nineties was the last great hurrah for heavy metal/rock and roll thanks to guys like Marilyn Manson and Smashing Pumpkins.
