Anyone who had a best friend of the opposite sex while growing up and watched their relationship change with adolescence (and even those who didn't)will be moved by this tender portrayal of teenage life in a small town on the East coast.

However, despite these changes the show continued to delve into the center of teenage life and issues and the acting by the teen leads got even better.

It seems that even the shows producers were surprised by the chemistry discovered between Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson, so much so that much of this season was shifted away from Dawson, with excellent results.
