#1 This movie is so high ranked because of how creative and ambitious the cinematography in this film is. The story would be lackluster without such a vast and beautiful scope of images.

#2 The Shipping News far outshines other films that try to carry the viewer through a dark plot. What is magnificent about this film is that every object, every shot reflects the tone of the movie. Although ultimately uplifting, the gray plot and colors of the Shipping News make for a deeply felt and quite vivid story.

I love how every scene, every angle, every movement makes my stomach turn. Although more subtle than some of the higher ranking films on this list, the cinematography in Little Children has just as much of an impact on how tragic its characters are.

Green and blue tinted images pull me deep into the Romeo and Juliet-esque quality of this film. There's a looming sentiment of doom all throughout, despite the high school age of the characters.

We all know the story, but it was the visual element of this film that made me love it.

There are some amazing scenes in this movie that would stand alone as beautiful photographs.

Very much a chick flick, but harder to predict than most. The importance of beautiful Tuscany and the shabby villa make for some great scenes.
