God and sex go together. You can’t separate the two, says Rob Bell, because this physical world is intimately linked to deeper spiritual realities. And so, in order to make sense of sexuality, at some point you have to talk about God. With beauty and unusual insight, Sex God explores this connection.

From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. Bell raises the bar with this evocative follow-up to last year's bestseller Velvet Elvis. "Is sex a picture of heaven?" he wonders. It's all about God and sex and heaven, he says: "...they're connected. And they can't be separated. Where the one is you will always find the other." Bell's book isn't a sex manual, an exploration of the differences between men and women or a marriage how-to, though all of that is here. Instead, it's the story of God becoming human, of humans mirroring God and love made manifest in the chaos of our humanity. Sex God is about relationships revealed in a way that elevates the human condition and offers hope to those whose relationships are wounded. In Bell's spare, somewhat oblique style, he addresses lust, respect, denial, risk, acceptance and more. His love for God and the Bible is clear, as is his ability to ask probing questions and offer answers that make readers think deeply about their own lives. He does a fine job using the Bible and real life to show that our physical relationships are really about spiritual relationships. This book joyfully ties, and then tightens, the knot between God and humankind. (Mar.)

A must read for teen agers and up
This book opened my eyes to the connections between sexuality and spirituality. I found it relevant and true. Both me and my husband read the book. I love how Rob Bell is able to explain such a complicated subject matter with clarity and deep understanding. I think that if I had read this as a teenager, I would have had a better perspective about how God created people to deal with their sexuality. Very meaningful.
Refreshing
Rob Bell has a unique way of communicating deep points in a way that is understandable and inviting. I love his story about Love and Control. These two are truely mutually exclusive . Thanks Rob
He just doesn't get it
Mr. Bell should take a Bible class (yes, I know he runs a huge "church"). His book is tasteless, and worse...incorrect in understanding of Bible truths.
Please! Jesus teaches that marriage is a picture of Christ and the Church. Jesus is the bridegroom, we are his bride. Please don't tell me that unmarried people can just have sex on their own terms and God thinks that's holy! I sure hope Jesus isn't so fast and loose with righteousness!
Sadly, I can believe, in this day of "Po-Mo" relativism, that Bell attracts a large audience. It's a lot harder to gather followers who are willing to "die" to themselves and their selfish ways, admit their sin for what it is, and then be totally available to God and have trust enough to obey the leading of the Spirit that dwells within the true Christian (See John ch 6...Jesus lost MANY disciples when they found out that He wanted to dwell in them and rule their lives).
It's just so gut-wrenching watching the church go downhill. Bell and this book are helping the slide...
