I'm a detective, not an actor, so who would think I'd be involved in a crime both offscreen and on? A producer has come to River Heights to film a reenactment of the heist that gave our town it's name, and he thinks I'm perfect for the part of Esther, the sister of the thieving Rackham boys. So I figure, why not give it a try?
But once the cameras start rolling, the trouble begins. Food poisoning. Broken generators. And worse! If I don't sniff out some suspects soon, this might be my final act.

Interesting setting and story!
Carolyn Keene takes her young readers on a trip behind the cameras, as our favorite girl detective becomes the star of a movie!
It seems that somebody just doesn't want this film to be made. Could all these problems interrupting the production possibly be accidents? With Nancy Drew around, the truth will ultimately come out!
Lights, Camera, boring!
This book was... well, the only nice way to say it is boring! There's absolutely NO suspense. Nancy Drew, the girl detective, is asked to star in a movie about the heist that have her town its name. But when sabatoge plagues the movie, Nancy, Bess, and George need to step in to save the day! Of course, the plot's not bad, but still... more action would be appreciated. 3 stars out of 5.
Behind the scenes of: Nancy Drew Lights,Camera...
Nancy Drew books are usually full of suspense, but this one was kind of a let down. The plot really didn't grab your attention. It was hard to beleive that what was going on in the book was really happening. Although the brave and daring main character Nancy Drew is the same for all the Nancy Drew books, the "co-stars" in the book are different along with the plot for each book! In Lights, Camera ... for the first time Nancy Drew is starring in a television movie. On the set even though everything seemed okay, it wasn't! Good thing for her junior detectives who are also her best friends, Bess Marvin and George Fayne. Both who have generously volunteered on the set. Nancy, Bess and George help each other find out who the crook is that is secertly sabotaging the set. Will they find out, or will it be a mystery forever?!
