Spurred on by what he sees as anti-American sentiment among leftists in the wake of September 11, Flynn, the executive director of Accuracy in Academia, a conservative watchdog group, seeks to "expose the strong undercurrent of reverse patriotism on the political Left." Unlike fellow conservative pundit Ann Coulter (Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right), Flynn draws a distinction between liberals, who are motivated by "love of country," and the real targets of his criticism, those who "view 'Amerika' as so inherently corrupt as to be beyond repair." He offers numerous examples of journalists, college students, professors and anonymous voices on the World Wide Web who are critical of the U.S. government; gives a thumbnail history of anti-Americanism in the U.S.; and argues against the "Five Big Lies" of the American Left (#5: "The rich get richer; the poor get poorer"). Flynn is particularly dismayed by the prevalence of leftism on college campuses and in academic curricula. Though some of his arguments are familiar, and his historical perspective arguably lacks rigor, Flynn will likely find grateful sympathizers.

Flynn, executive director of Accuracy in Academia (www.academia.org), attempts to analyze and explain the anti-American sentiments of the Left in his new book. The Left, according to Flynn, consists of intellectuals, museum curators, journalists, librarians, movie stars, and academics who question or criticize U.S. government policies, American culture, and society. Flynn generalizes that the Left controls and manipulates education and entertainment in the United States in an attempt to destroy American society and values. He also writes that McCarthyism, internment of the Japanese during World War II, and slavery have been embellished by the Left (to the detriment of other historical calamities) and are therefore not as vile as the Left believes or teaches. Flynn's gross generalizations and virulent depictions of the Left go beyond a simple critique of the excesses of political correctness; he paints with such a broad brush that "Left" and "Intellectuals" function mainly as straw men in his argument, making his views finally unbelievable. Activities and statements representing the Left are cited in an extensive end notes/bibliography section. The Truth Will Set You Free!
A book of truth, as honest as Pope Benedict's recent remarks about the nature of mankind and of the differences between men and women and the sanctity of that relationship.

The person who possesses even the smallest degree of true intellect can easily seen that we are racing down a path of self-destruction. Where our society and the worlds character, through nothing more than a corrupt desire for votes and a return to power and dynasty, leaves our nation seeking the lowest level of human nature possible.

The "better angels" of our nature are being drummed out of existence by a corrupt political process, even more corrupt political figures, judicial activist betraying their basic oath and responsibilities, a fallen and failed education system (all levels) and a cesspool of deviant and hypocritical entertainment industries and individuals.

We do need an "ecology of man" as the Pope has called it. An awakening of truth.

Daniel Flynn in this book proves this to be true and identifies those who would plunge the nation and the world into a chaotic mix of greed, pornographic sleaziness and debauchery. All while attacking and removing any and all safeguards, put in place for centuries, that were designed to protect against the failure of the greatest experiment ever conceived by the mind of mere human beings.

He aptly pulls aside that rotting curtain hidding the deviant political, institutionalized world around us. A world that feeds upon the condemnation of all that is right, good, prudent and righteous. Mr. Flynn proves the fact that those who practice unnatural acts and support detrimental policies will never accept truth. They have lost their ability to actually reason, to follow the party line or adhere to special interest lies or defend false studies designed to acheive only the results desired.

Critical thinking for them is the act of calling good evil and evil good and working tirelessly to see that everyone else accepts their falsehoods or is forced to accept their premise or be harassed or assaulted until they do.

In short wisdom has escaped their critical thinking abilities in order to allow them to sanctify what commons sense tells the rational person is wrong.

True common sense has been ripped from the hearts of the left, or the so-called progressives, and many democrats, and has been replaced with a logic emblematic of children following a Pied Pipper. Logic, intellect, rationality and reason have all been sacrificed in the interest of obtaining votes and power at any cost. All in the interest of putting into powerful positions those who profess and in fact insist that deviance and sinfulness be accepted as "civil rights."

Truth no longer exists within them and they could not see truth or accept it if they did find it somehow. They simply want to take all that was good, sane, holy and moral out of the American character and consciousness and replace it with their own concepts and ideologies... ignoring the lessons of history. In fine, "professing themselves to be wise...they have become fools."

It has been put forth, and the same is clear to any rational person, that politics is a circle not a straight line...and ultra progressive liberals or ultra conservatives stand at the back of this circle only one step away from one another.

If either takes one step forward they actually become what they they seem to hate the most. This is where most of the political neo-left-wing progressive liberals are today...the finatics who have taken the leash of the liberal movement. They are stepping back and forth between the Stalinists of the ultra-left and the Hitlerisms of the ultra-right. It is sad that with a media under their command, a judiciary out of control in their favor and a filthy rich entertainment industry in their hip pockets they are winning while good people do nothing.

But it is the acceptance of deviance that makes the left so dangerous for America and the world today.

Having gained all the power now in Washington democrats will rush to make this self-fullfilling destruction a reality and remove any real or true sense of liberty, freedom and "civil rights" from those who do not agree with their twisted version of right and wrong.

Congratulations to Mr. Flynn for saying in detail and eloquence what 60 percent of Americans already know in their hearts.

Read It Then decide, Wish it had a better title...
I wish writers like Flynn were just a bit more gentle with their titles, Not PC, just not lowering themselves and not being inciting for publicity.Otherwise this is a fine book that really tries to analyze why the left works so hard against the country that allows and sometimes even encourages them to exist. It is filled with great examples,sometimes a bit heavy handed in presentation, that does prove the point. His chapter on what is right about America is borderline brilliant making me wish every loudmouth Hollywood uneducated lout would start out with "America has made me rich,and I am very happy to not be imprisoned for complaining but...". Very happy someone tossed me this to read, read it for yourself and just look around for day to day proof that the left is a real and grave danger to democracy,and that those within our country are working too hard to help those who wish to destroy us completely. Authors note: The Far Right is also a danger, plenty of good books on that you can read also...

Every ideology needs a devil.To the Left,the devil is the United States of America
This book is an excellent explanation of why there is so much Anti-Americanism and even hatred towards America and Americans.A lot of this hatred today is directed towards President Bush and any and all leaders in the Republican Party.This Anti-Americanism resides not only with the Liberals,Socialists,and those to the left of center in political thinking among the Democrats ,but also with the same types outside the United States ;particularly in Europe and right here in Canada.
The author quotes the words of Leftists themselves to show the depth of idology they have in their desire to see the downfall of America.
Their ideology necessitates that everything good about America is in direct opposition to what the Left touts in theory;but is refuted in practice. Rather than revise their inept theories,the Left lashes out at the nation that disproves them.
Communism ,Socialism, Fascism,and other isms are evil in nature and have proven to be utter failures whenever they have gained control over those they purport to serve. Yet a small number of elites still hold to these dark,failed and evil ideologies for the simple reason that it is in tryanny,suffering and failure that they look for hope.
The West and United States has been ,and until something better than Democracy,Freedom and Liberty and Faith in a Supreme Being comes along;these concepts will remain the hope for Mankind in the future;not the failed isms that the Left continue to offer.
There are ancient words that are appropriately applied to the Left;

"One who deceives will always find those who allow themselve to be
deceived."
There is very little in this book that does not apply to Canada as well;and in many cases even more so.
It is a very rare thing to find anyone here who does not spew out a line of Anti- Americanism.This is particularly prominent with people associated with schools,universities and the media.The numbers of Leftists quotes in these areas in the United States do dot surprise me at all;and I suspect the numbers would be even higher here in Canada.
The author's comments about Multiculturalism hit home here as well. It has been entrenched so deeply that any discussion about its merits are virtually verbotten. Dual Citizenships,split national allegiances,Hyphenated Loyalties etc., were not what made America the shining light in the world;and these same things are causing deep-rooted divisions in Canada.
The words that define America,Life,Liberty,and the Pursuit of Happiness were not adopted here.Canada chose Peace,Order and Good Government;quite different values. One set is meant to serve the people while the other is to govern people.
If you love your country and believe in the values that the founders of America did,and by the way not all Canadians are Leftists,this book will give you the other side of the arguments you continually hear from Leftists,regardless of how much they pretend that they don't hate Aamerica;its just the things that America and people Like Bush do. Hold on to this book,Bush will be gone in a couple of years.The Anti-Americanism won't disappear,regardless of who or even what party replaces him.
If you really want to know what is wrong in the West;look no further than the ideologies of the Left.
