Customer Reviews
Definitely fun and worthwhile
Ankh is an enjoyable lighthearted adventure that, if you ask me, is a refreshing change of pace from the usual modern adventure games that tend to take themselves too seriously. Don't let the clichéd Egyptian setting be discouraging. This is no boring romp in the Sahara.
The humor isn't side-splitting, but it kept a smile on my face throughout and supplied an adequate amount of larfs. With endearing characters, eye-catching graphics, a well made (if not underused) musical soundtrack, and plenty of levity, I think there are enough pros to heavily outweigh the cons (such as the relative brevity or less-than-top-notch vocal editing).
It's not the best game I've ever played, but it certainly fits nicely into my top forty favorite 21st-Century-released adventure games. An easy 8 out of 10. Well worth the time, if not the MSRP. $30 is a bit high. I suggest waiting for it to go on sale (or hooking it used), then jump on it!
Incidentally, I'm not exactly sure what Amazon had on its mind when it listed this game, but some of its description is inaccurate. First, the game was released in 2006, not 2001. Also, three of the five bulleted "Product Features" are not found in here. There are no "sports and racing games," nor "card and casino games." This is not the place to find "over 1300 puzzle and board games" nor "570+ word and brain games." And you'll not find "more than 500 action and arcade games" nor "over 420 Sudoku games." The other two bullets are accurate, though. FYI. :)
Lastly, pay no attention to the Star-Force rhetoric surrounding this game. The North American version sold here by Amazon does NOT install any hidden programs nor copy-protection malware to damage either one's pc or gaming experience.
5 Stars Fun with 3 Stars Graphics
But don't let that stop you from buying it. I have the Mac version and it's absolutely fun. It's one of those games that once you've start you cannot put down. For all ages.
Wish I could have played it
I had to return it. It would not play on my computer. But I think from the first few minutes I could see it is a great game.
