Great Concept, remote function a little sub-par4
Purchased this on a lightning deal for around $100. I wasn't really sure what it did but I needed a charging station/speaker system for my new Iphone. The sound on this unit is very good. I have used an Altec Lansing unit, 3 different IHome units, and a psyclone unit and the sound quality from the DLO beats them all. Unlike these other units, the ipod fits securely in the docking port, with the top of the ipod resting against the inside of cabinet. I always fear that somebody is going to grab the ipod out of my iHome unit and break the plug in contacts at the bottom since it just sticks up with no support, not so with the DLO. I also haven't experienced any compatability issues with my new Iphone 3Gs, nano, or 30 GB video, they all work.

The concept of the remote control is great. Basically it functions just like the Ipod. In other words, the RF control displays all the menus from your ipod including playlists, artists, albums.... you get the idea. The other cool thing is it will display the album art on the screen of the control while it is playing. The remote will also control volume of the speakers, it does it all. The unit also has a Aux output in the back meaning you can hook it up to a larger stereo system and really leverage the RF capabilities of the remote by putting it in a closed cabinet. This means you can control the music from any room in your house without line of sight.

The downside to this remote control is that I have found it sometimes gets "stuck". I'm not sure if this is because the unit is transmitting so much information back and forth from the IPod but at times, I will press a directional key, expecting to see another menu option and the screen on the control will show a "connecting" message, like it is transmitting from the base unit. Suffice it to say, the concept is great, but the execution is not quite there. Having said that, the RF control functionality was kind of bonus to me since I was just intending to purchase a charging/speaker unit. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.

    Great product!5
I had been looking for a docking station for my itouch for a long time, and believe me i did a lot of research. It looks great seating on my desk, it sounds great, and it is so easy to use, just plug and listen. The remote is a plus, i love that i can sort tru my songs from a distance.

    Very good, but not perfect4
Let me say first, I am very pleased with the iBoom - it sounds better than I expected. The sound quality is very good, the bass has a little punch to it but nothing you can really feel and the highs are spot on. You can turn the volume all the way up and the quality is still good. It is loud enough to fill pretty much any room you might have in your home. Just don't expect it to replace a full stereo system - the power just isn't there.

The only negative side I have for it may be a common one, I don't know as this is my first ipod dock. If you only play from your playlists, then you will have no problem. But if you like to select specific artists or songs from the library, it becomes tedious. For example, I have my 16GB ipod nano 4th gen full of music. If I want to listen to ZZtop and it's not on a playlist, it takes several minutes to scroll all the way through the library to get to the Zs using the remote.
