What is cooking?5
The real value in Miss Cunningham's books is her wholesome attitude to what cooking really means to all of us. As a young mother I repeatedly checked out The Breakfast Book at our local library, searching and reading it each time. Without preaching or or belaboring the point I learned of the gentle art of serving your family and creating a family table that bound us together. My copy of this cookbook has notes, and drips, and is yellowed and stained. It falls open on the gingersnap recipe because the spine is broken in that spot. This simple cookie recipe has become full of memories for my husband, children and their friends as well. Other recipes in this little book look just as bad. It's been borrowed, copied, coloured in by a naughtly two year old [who is now a handsome young man] and is so dear to my heart that I could not bear to part with it in favor of a newer copy. It has, like the Velveteen Rabbit, become real. I would like to paint her rules of deportment on my breakfast room wall.

A classic5
When friends come to visit, the Breakfast Book comes out. Dutch Babies, Apple Pancakes, Raw Apple Muffins, Oatmeal Raisin Scones, Bridge Creek Ginger Muffins -- the list goes on. The food tends to the rich and decadent so I mix the menu up with lighter fare. But even so, it is hard to be moderate with this food, so I save it for special occasions. It is specialized, but breakfast needs more serious attention than it usually gets so I consider it a must have for every serious cook.

Breakfast Book, Recipes3
This was not what I expected, thou recipes are easy to follow. I like pictures of reach recipe, so it should be noted in description that there are NONE! This would be great as a gift for newly weds, singles venturing out on their own, etc.
