Just about OK3
I was a bit disappointed with this item. The product description made me think that it was made in France, but it isn't, it's a generic Chinese product, according to the box. That said, it works OK, but I wish it were larger and, now that I've used it, it had holes on all 4 sides, as opposed to 2. I imagine that the cheaper alternatives would do the job just as well as this one, if not, perhaps, better. Using it to mash some potatoes in their skins, some of the potato came back behind the presser, and did not pass through the holes. I suspect that this wouldn't have happened if they'd been peeled, but it did a pretty good job, considering they weren't. Finally, it does seem quite solid.

french made or not?5
I shopped around for a good potato ricer for about a month. Finally decided on this one. The ricer is great. It is very easy to use and to clean, which makes me very happy. It is of very good quality stainless. I shouldn't ever have to buy another. Learning how to make gnocchi now.
This ricer is supposed to be made in France, but it arrived in a simple generic box with a sticker on it stating "made in China". Maybe it is a knock-off. Maybe France is out sourcing to China too. I don't know.
