AN ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE RECORD
Disclaimer: I have had this record for a long long time..I just have never gotten a chance to write a review for it until now.

Red Stars Theory in my opinion is one of the most promising most amazing bands to come out of the indie scene in an extremely long time. It has been more than a pleasure to have this extremely talented band become a large part of my life. Everything about this record affects me a great deal on an emotional level. The extremely simplistic cover depicts a dark quiet solitary room along with a bed, a lamp and a window. I usually like to emulate the surroundings in my own room for those long nights when your mind wonders aimlessly. The music, what can I say about the music? Well..it's absolutely extraordinary, it combines the quietest, prettiest guitar parts, with a sort of light jazz drums, mixed with a beautiful violin. James Bertram's voice is extremely moving as well..his vocals get right to the point with simple words very meaningful words. The images that come to mind when I listen to these compositions are really the subtle things that happen in your life that affect you a great deal..especially when being sentimental. In the second track "I thought about you" James' quietly mutters "I thought about you again..today" a phrase I have found myself saying quite a bit lately. This record puts me in places I have been in my past and other places that I wish I could remain instead of returning to my normal life. Places that I somehow long for again in my life. Those days when things were simpler and you could just admire many of aesthetics and beauty of life without the everyday hassles. Do yourself a tremendous favor and pick up this masterpiece I'm quite confident you'll enjoy it. If you like this definitely think of picking up their second release "Life in a Bubble Can Be Beautiful" which adds new dimensions to their already amazing sound. One question...can I give "but sleep came slowly" 6 stars? Just a thought.

Smart and stupid
Another plodding, slightly saddened musical entry into the emotional-rock genre where scrappy instrumentation, powerless vocals, and generic soft/loud dynamics feel like prerequisites to join a club which this band attempts to compensate for. They partially succeed, especially in vocal-free extended passages which divert attention and shines a light underneath songwriting talents.
