Best. Case. Ever.
This is the best case I could hope for for my iPod Classic 80G. It fits very snugly. It protects the screen and, well, everything except the scroll wheel with strong, clear polycarbonate plastic. It has, supposedly, shock-absorbing rubber around the edges. I have not dropped my iPod, and hope never to, but it's nice to know there is some protection.

I am glad there is nothing covering the wheel, as the wheel on the classic has some sensitivity issues that are no problem at all with this case.

There are openings for the controls and ports. There are also two openings where a belt clip attaches. I could do without those, as I don't use a belt clip, but they don't bother me. I do find that some dust gets in through the openings, but that is a minor annoyance compared to the scratches and scuffs that started accumulating on the back the moment I opened the iPod package. I'm not super-picky about having a pristine device, but I also don't like screen scratches.

I only tried one other case, actually a silicone sleeve. It was loose and collected dust. It also did not protect the screen. This case was precisely what I was looking for after the disappointment of the sleeve.

I cannot recommend this case enough.

Great
although i have not dropped the ipod with it in this case, i still have been more than satisfied.

pros
-slim but very protective
-double lock mechanism that is easy to use
-openings are flush to keep dust from getting under and making the screen dusty (i have had the case on a total of 2 weeks and have yet to clean under)
-protects screen without touching it (to keep dust from scratching the screen)
-very snug - the ipod doesn't move at all inside the case.
-clear back and front so that your ipod still looks like an ipod
-easy (but not too easy) access to hold switch
-rubber pads inside the case seem to keep the ipod from actually touching the case completely - preventing scratching on the ipod and the screen
-rubber edge seems to be very durable and well bonded to the hard plastic.

cons
-doesn't fit with some fm transmitters/ipod accessories
-kind of hard to pull the ipod out of the case once it is open (although this is actually better because if the case somehow opened in a fall, the ipod would probably stay tight to the front cover)
-hard to pull the clip off once it is on


UPDATE: 2 and half months later and it's still working great. i use a sock to protect it from scratches.

Very Solid Case
My first Contour Showcase. Most people I know with this case for previous iPod generations swear by the Showcase, so I purchased this one. I knew I didn't want a bulky, neoprene, leather, or silicon (aka "lint magnet") cases.

PROS:
- slim, minimal bulk added to iPod
- covers majority of the iPod surface
- dual locks to keep case closed
- actually designed only for the iPod Classic 80GB
- belt clip slips on easily and solid construction

CONS:
- the edges of the case do not completely come together when the case is closed to form a solid seal. Very tiny gap between the black-colored rubber edges. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars.
