Great Accessory for Your HP Desktop
This huge hard drive works incredibly well in conjunction with select HP desktops that have a storage bay... and using an external power supply and USB cable (both included) it will connect to any other computer.
The one drawback is that you need to carry around the external power supply for this drive when you're using it with other machines.
Other than that, this thing is perfect.
Ultimate backup drive
I added both the pocket and personal media drives to my HP got both from Amazon in the same order. The other reviewer was maybe confused about what they were ordering. Anyway ultra easy to back up to this device and with the front slide in load you can take 750 GB with you or create one as a disaster recovery disk and store it someplace away from the computer. I also had a bit of a loud fan problem and unplugged the drive for a while. Did this a couple of times and it seems to have gone away. I also upgraded to a GE Force 8800GT 1GB ram video card during the same time frame I was having the fan noise issues. I think that this video card and both media drives was too much for the stock power supply so I bumped the power supply up and everything seems to be running more quietly and cooler. Not sure but there may have been some marginal power issues. As my photo collection gets out of hand I will be using these personal media drives like book volumes. Pretty cool device if you have an HP computer with a slot you need at least one of these guys. If you want to use it on the desk I would go for one of the Firewire 1TB drives on the market.
Great Drive
Great drive. No noise problems as others reported in their reviews. Installed quickly. Has worked great with Vista.
